A helping hand

Outstanding lead actress Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B) predicting how she'd celebrate her post-Emmy win during The Bold and the Beautiful's press luncheon at Morgans Hotel in New York City. "I'll smoke a good Cuban cigar and have a glass of champagne." Flannery's castmates aren't the only ones raising their glasses to the award-winning actress. While her busy schedule doesn't always allow her to be physically part of her favorite charitable organizations, Flannery's always ready to dole out a generous donation. "I give a lot of money," she says heartily. Flannery's philanthropic endeavors encompass everyone, from pets to politics. "Planned Parenthood, The Humane Society of America, Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee, National Organization for Women, and the Southern Poverty Law Center; I figure that's what's important." Understanding the impact of a solid academic foundation, Flannery has made it a personal mission to aid those who can't afford schooling on their own. "I try to find kids who may have never had a chance to go to college or have gotten themselves into trouble, and I try to help them, maybe by starting off at a city college and working their way up," she explains. "I think that education is the most important thing."
