At home with John McCook
B&B star John McCook is good friends with his character – and…
“It was a magazine who got me and my wife together..!”
· John McCook plays fashion designer in the soap opera The bold and the beautiful.
· John by the door to the house. Unfortunately, when “Hänt Extra” came to visit, Laurette wasn’t home.
· “I only relax like this for the photographer. Otherwise I always do something inside the house or in the garden”, says John.
· After workdays, John relaxes with a drink in the living room.
· The house, that is located north of Los Angeles, has a shady garden.
· The favourite chair in the living room.

It was when his mother brought him with her as an 11 year old to see “Peter Pan” when John McCook decided to become an actor. Today he is world-famous for the urbane and elegant fashion designer “Eric Forrester” in the TV soap opera “The bold and the beautiful”.
John started early taking piano lessons, study classical music and singing in choirs. And it was in musicals that he started his career.
It was the legendary Jack Warner that discovered John when he played “Tony” in West side Story in New York and it was the beginning to many roles in different TV-shows.
John is married to Laurette Spang, who was an actress when they met. Together they have three children, 20, 18 and 11 years. John also has son Seth from a previous marriage.
John and Laurette had the same agent so they used to see each other at the agent’s office. At one time they were in the same show and the magazine Hollywood Reporter wrote that they were Hollywood’s new couple.
- Then I called Laurette and asked if we could meat, as the magazine already wrote about us…
- We went out and ate dinner – and it’s on that way, says John and smiles.
- So it was Hollywood Reporter that brought us together…
His B&B role as Eric Forrester, as he has played since 1987, John thinks is both challenging and exciting. The longer you play a role the harder it gets.
- “Eric” I see today as a good friend of mine, says John and continues:
- My life is not at all as glamorous as many seems to think. We go out to teaters and movies, but I also go to the grocery shop to buy food, cook dinner and do the dishes. I am Laurette´s partner and it’s important to help each other.
