John McCook, an avid film buff, tells Soaps in Depth that he had a few ideas of his own for what should win at this year’s Academy Awards. For best screenplay or best director, he would pick American Beauty, and for best actor, he thinks the nod should have gone to Jim Carrey for his portrayal of the late Andy Kaufman in “Man on the moon”. His favorite movie, however, is an obscure 1980 film called “Those lips, those eyes”. The movie is a coming of age story in the world of the theatre, so it kind of hits home for the actor.
