In the 01-Jan issue of Soap Opera Digest, the magazine looks back at various actors from the soap world, taking quotes from past interviews and seeing how they apply to the actors' lives today. From B&B, they speak to John McCook, who said in 1993 that he was happy that he didn't have to play the hunk all the time (as he did in his younger days on Y&R), but he still got good stories. John felt secure in that then, and today he even feels more secure. He's excited that Eric's stories today revolve around his family, rather than having him be manipulated by Stephanie as he was in B&B's early days. He also recalls saying in 1997 that he is happy with B&B at a half-hour because an hour show might cost them their chemistry and enthusiasm. That, too, is still true today, he says, to the point that he personally hopes the show does not go to an hour. 1
