The View was created in several locations across Washington State. The bulk of recording took place in eastern Washington, around Eureka Farm. The band was surrounded by nothing but wide-open space, which they enjoyed a great deal. Five of the eight songs on the album were written in a period of two weeks, when they were isolated 17 miles away from the nearest town.

They used a HAL 9000 16-track 1-inch tape machine, and set out to make an album that sounded 'real' and 'surreal' at the same time. The only unnatural effects used in making The View were two spring reverb units, a tape delay, and a top-secret 'crapulator'. Eureka Farm believes the insanity that ensued as a result of the self-imposed solitary confinement was the perfect catalyst to make a genuine record for listeners to enjoy.

The styling of Eureka Farm does not fit into one musical genre. However, they remain influenced by the music of Bela Bartok and the style of Esquivel. Other inspirations include Ornette Coleman, Alban Berg, Tortoise, Talk Talk and Can.
