| My life long goal is to carry out Gods plan and to be in his will, and musically I want to be the best vocalist I can possibly be. I can be a morning person. This past couple of weeks Ive been waking up early without a alarm. Ill always be singing old hymns in the morning. I was in a restaurant the other day and I heard it and I thought someone was playing a joke on me and just popped in the CD, but it was on the radio, and it was crazy! This is the way it always goes, they leave the hard work up to me. Always have me pushing and carrying the bags! I dont know Well, uh, Nate and I decided to take a little jog down the street last night, just the main freeway up there. So were just jogging down the street and we get done and we stop on the corner and were both standing there, you know, soaking wet, 100 degrees and 1,000 percent humidity. And um, so were just standing there and a cop pulls up and hes like Now boys, I need you to stay right there on the corner, and were going, Okaaaay, So he pulls around and hes like. So boys what you out doing? and were going, Were just out jogging sir, Hes like, Well we got some suspicions of some juveniles running around and creating some ruckus and were like, what? whats some ruckus? So then he said, well Im just going to have to take you back to your hotel, and he frisked us! Its like, were good guys were pastors kids! Yeah booooooyyyyyyiiiiiieeeee!!!! Rock and Roll! Where do we go? Where are we? Guess what guys? My stuffs not on the bus!no Im serious! The only girls we are doing this for are the ones who can look to us and gain respect, confidence in themselves, and learn not to give into pressure. Whether they come from good homes or messed up lives, we just need to show them the message. The Bible talks about the anointing of God, and we all feel that were called of God to minister and to touch peoples hearts with the gift that Hes given us, the gift of voice and music and ministry. Theres just something about singing for God and his glory, lifting up His name. He moves in creative ways, and really can get down deep and touch peoples hearts and really move places that other kinds of music cant. I think that Christian music and gospel music can really sink in and touch the heart. I feel strongly about having a true purpose for this group because the reason I sing sis because of Jesus Christ, my Savior. The Lord blessed me with talent, so Im gonna use it for Him. We all love to sing, but really the whole reason we do this is for ministry and to spread the Gospel. I think that our faith has a lot to do with out attitudes and our actions. Reading the Bible and being spiritually fed is going to play a big role in how we act and the way we relate with people. Connecting with the audience and making them feel like they are having a good time. ( on what he likes the most about being onstage). At one time in your life, you question things, but were all on the right now. Gods really blessed us and were doing what we love. "Happy birthday, dear killer..." (from TBAA) "I came in the group through the connection of Nate's second cousin, [who] is an evangelist, and he came to my dad's church. I had sung that morning, and he had preached. After church, he told me about a group that his second cousin was in. I sent a tape of me singing to Nate and his dad, and they watched it. Then they sent it to Mitch, our manager. He liked it, and he flew me out to meet the guys. I met them, and everything really clicked. It all worked out really well, so I joined the band." "It is awesome!! We couldn't believe it the other day when we knocked off N'SYNC, Christina Aquilera, Backstreet Boys, and Aaron Carter for the number one video on the Zoog Disney Countdown." - Jason ( on the video making the #1 spot on the coutdown) "Yes, but we really never wanted it to be that. I guess they figured pink for girls and blue for boys, but we finally had to put our foot down and tell them that we wanted a real name."( on there name being Blue at first) "I miss going to school a little bit. This is my first year out." "Most of the songs were actually presented just because everything happened so fast. We wanted to get the album out and everything just seemed to snowball. But it was cool to work with the same people who both wrote and produced the songs." "I came in the group through the connection of Nate's second cousin, who is an evangelist, and he came to my dad's church. I had sung that morning, and he had preached. After church, he told me about a group that his second cousin was in..I sent a tape of me singing to Nate and his dad, and they watched it. "I think being dependent on God keeps it strong because you realize that's where your strength comes from and if you let it only come from there, then it makes it stronger."(Question-Do you use this as a personal/artistic expression in addition to a means to express your faith?) "It's a cool thing to have fans! People wanting to sing along with your songs." (on the best part of being a singer) "Musically, a lot of R&B and gospel, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Joe. Mentorship-wise,I always looked to my father for guidance and a role model, but I'm not really living underneath his roof anymore. Our managers played a big role in my life, as well as some of the people from our record label and some of the people we've gotten to work with. Seeing their experiences and learning from them was a great opportunity." "Y'all are an answer to prayer from heaven!" (after receiving candy from da candy girlies!!) "adventure movies where I can play a team sport." (on what type of movie he'd want to be in.) "The first minute, take a shower. The second minute, get dressed. The next three minutes, I'd dedicate the time to my hair." ( Only 5 minutes to take a shower...what do you do!?) " I want my cutoff t-shirts" (1 article of clothing you can not live without) "Girls, I hope you are looking at us as Godly men because, girls, we are not boy toys! We are just five guys following God's will and if we have to sign a few autographs and take a few pictures then we will do that if it spreads the message of Christ." "So here I was cleaning the bus the other day and the vaccuum cleaner didnt reach like the last two feet of the bus,I wanted to just unplug the vaccuum and leave all that dirt and leaves, but then I thought maybe I should unplug it and move it to a new pluggy thingy, thats what I call the electrical outlet, the pluggy thingy! So anyways,I said to myself "What would Jesus do?" Well actually I didn't,I wasn't that spiritual!" "We're definitely a Christian band, five guys who love God with all our hearts. It's our passion and our calling to make Christian music and lift up the name of Christ, so that's why we feel God has put us together. He's got a purpose and a plan for Plus One. We're definitely a Christian band." "Ill tell ya what. If you are ever out on the road and you get lonely. Just try to find a Walmart. Thats what we do. Cuz there is one in every city and there is something for me, when I walk into Walmart its like Im home. Just start walking around, browsin, going through the stuff, going to electronics, thats home!" "Most of the songs were actually presented just because everything happened so fast. We wanted to get the album out and everything just seemed to snowball. But it was cool to work with the same people who both wrote and produced the songs."(Did you do a lot of writing on the album or were most of the songs presented to you?) "There's always a choice to be Christian, and sometimes it's not easy, and I think especially with today's society, it doesn't make it any easier, but God gives us strength to make it through and He gives us perserverance" " The summer before, I went on a choir tour called the American Christian Youth Chorale. Spiritually, I had never been so in tune with God. God really opened up my eyes and as I look back, I can totally see Him preparing me for what was about to happen." (Looking back, in what way do you feel like God had prepared you for all of this while you were growing up?) |
