| "And thats my impersonations Its been a long time, I shouldnt have left youthats why we dont do rap. Plus One is about real ministry, not about the song, the hype or the performance. Its sharing our hearts with kids. Theres a bunch of crazy things, but there was this one girl who was in the singing line and she asked Jason to spit in her water bottle so she could have it.(about the craziest thing a fan has done.) Ooookeeee I was like at the WB store once and the video came on and I was like freaking out, it feels crazy! At first it feels like a dream, but now were getting used to it. We dont feel famous yet. We just try to stay normal by joking around and keeping us accountable. Jason is drivingso I dont know where were going! Well, except for Nate and Jason, they almost got arrested. Uh, about 20,000Im not really sure though. This is usPlus Oneon the back of the bus. 123Jesus! Im a rapper, no, just kidding. But its not really working because I think we are bringing each other down [laughing]. Our rooms are pretty dirty right now! (on making the slobs neat) Hes got the flavor (on Jeremy) Im into sports. I like sports a lot. You said all that just so you could say the work osmosis, didnt you? (on a long speech Jeremy gave) Matchbox 20, Brandy, and Kid Rocks in there [laughs] (on his CDs) Im still traumatized by it to this day. (on sleeping in a closet) We want to be able to use every single opportunity that we have to sing for Christ, and positively influence our culture. That was one of our performances, and we were kind of nervous when they told us who we would be performing for. We got together and prayed, saying God, let Your will be done at this little performance were about to do here. When David [Foster] played the piano for us, it was one of the best performances we have ever done. God really came through for us. People were touched. Davids wife was sitting in the front, and she started crying during one of our songs. You could just feel a sweet presence in the room when we sing. (talking about performing at a showcase in LA) "We were thinking there weren't gonna be that many people there at all. We were surprised that, you know, a couple of people'd show up, but it's very cool to see all those people stacked up on levels (gesticulates), everyone cheering. It was really cool; it was a very nice welcome." "It's a funny story. We werel all doing vocal stuff, like working together vocally and just practicing singing together in San Francisco, and one of the guys who helped us a lot vocally, Phil Sillas, he wrote some songs on the album too, was just sitting around and he would toss around names, and would give us these dumb names, just joking around, and we never took him serious. But he was like, "How about Five Plus ONE?" meaning, all you guys plus God and it was like, "Hey, that sounds cool, but how about we just keep it short and keep it Plus ONE." It's short and sweet. It's kind of stuck after that." "My sister-in-law was singing demos for a guy who was going to be judging the vocal performance at [the Plus One] audition. She told him about me and he asked me to send something in. I couldn't find anything so I sent in my prom picture and a tape of me singing for a youth event. I went to the audition about a week later. " "There's a bunch of crazy things, but there was this one girl who was in the signing line and she asked Jason to spit in her water bottle so she could have it!" "I'm a pastor's son. I grew up just outside San Francisco. At our church, I led worship, sang in choirs, and played several instruments. I love to minister to others, and I love music. I'm lucky to be able to put these passions together and minister through our music. I love seeing people get saved, coming down to the altar and getting saved. They're throwing their past life away and just starting a new one." "To be honest, it's very easy to become prideful. Every day we have to continually ask God to humble us. We go into concerts and all these people are saying all they are here to see is you. You can't take that and say, "OK." We have to ask God to humble us continually and work through it day by day." "Yes, all the time, whenever we are on the internet we are always checking stuff out by fans." (on checking out fan sites on the net.) "Most of us got our musical background and started singing and performing in church when we were really young. A few of our dads are pastors. So, that's kind of where we started, where we got our basis, you know, just every service singing stuff. But, I don't know, there's a lot of different artists that we listen to. You know, some of us gospel, some, you know, more rock alternative, just, we listen to a lot of stuff." "Well, as far as we released it, and it went up for ads, and, actually, it's been kind of slow right now in the secular market -- I think it was the timing, it was a bad time -- so we're going to re-release it in January with a whole new package and and, like, a whole new idea. So, hopefully, we'll get more airplay right now. But some radio stations are playing it right now, and we're getting some spins." ( Question: So, how successful have you guys been, because I know you're trying to get Last Flight Out on to pop radio. How successful have you guys been doing that?) "Ohhh -- that one's been used a few times." "action movies like Brad Pitt" (on what kind of movie he'd want to be) "There are a few things you guys can do to make this concert better, 1:sing along and 2: dance! ya and I know all u parents out there can Bust-a-Move!" (Alive Festival June 23rd) "I live in Northern California and I was visiting my parents and uhh I was driving down to LA and its like a 7 hour drive and when you drive down there there is just this strip and its like just land for days. Its like the freeway and just land. Thats it. Theres no one out there, and um I pulled into this gas station and was getting some gas and I coulda sworn that I heard Written On My Heart. It was like you..na na na na na! And I was like NO WAY! Am I hearing things in my head? Whats going on? So I turned around and this van was playing our song as they were driving down the road passing by. It was really weird. And they were like HEY YEAH PLUS ONE! And I was like no way, it was kinda cool." "I like a date on the beach, not knowing where you are going to eat. Something casual as that will be more fun." (What's your ideal date like?) "Nathan's a brain. I don't understand how his brain can go in so many directions at once, and yet he can still regurgitate it all out into a sentence. He's the philosopher of our group. You can always count on him to get into a really in-depth conversation, or if you want to pick something apart like, "Is this a Jolly Rancher or is this thousands of molecules of little tiny sugars?" he'll sit there and do that with you." (How would you describe Nathan?) "OH MY GOSH! ITS MINNIE MOUSE!" "Oh yeah I guess so. Umm yeah sometimes. I think it depends on where youre at. I think in the Dallas area..where our bigger markets at. I think we get recognized a little bit more. Sometimes we dont get recognized at all. I think it just depends on where we are at usually." |
