Personal Information
Well hello there. As you have already figured out my name is Emi P. Stefanov. "P" stands for Petar my father's name. I was born on
May 12, 1977, in Chicago, Ill.
I had a privilage to grow up in a wonderful country of Yugoslavia. Both of my parents are musicians, so I was destined to become one from an early age. I guess I am one of those prodigy kids, because I started playing piano when I was three. By the time I was six I started attending music school "Josip Slavenski" in Belgrade, where I finished my music elementary and high school. At the same time I attended a normal elementary school "Vuk Karadzic" in Sremcica, about 18km from center of Belgrade. Going to two schools was hard, but it was rewarding as well. I had two sets of teachers, friends, and all the education I wanted and needed.
My hometown Belgrade.
Due to the craziness in my country I was forced to leave my hometown. I came to Tampa, Florida in 1992. This is where I started private High School Tampa Preparatory School, at the University of Tampa. At the beginning life was hard: new school, new teachers, new friends, and new language. Even though it was hard, I made it through HS without much trouble. I even managed to have some fun. And I certainly met some great people that have helped me get through the hardest part of my life. Terrapins forever :)
In my pursuit of higher education I got a scholarship at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. This is where I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Music, majoring in piano performance and piano pedagogy. I fell in love with the school and people there, so I decided to keep going and in May 2002 I received a Masters Degree in piano performance. I owe it all to my professor Alfred Mouledous.
Go Mustangs.

My most recent discovery was Broadway Musicals. I started getting interested while I was in HS, and I have been addicted ever since. I am currently teaching couple musical theater classes, and I am  an accompanist for Broadway Theater Project, in Tampa, Florida.  I am also music directing different shows in Dallas area and SMU.
I recently finished a run of
It's All True and Love's Fire at SMU Jones Rep and Once Upon A Mattress at a local community theater.
Work is definately a big part of my life but there are other things that I enjoy. I am a language freak. I love traveling and road trips; discovering new places and new things. I love the beach, I love the outdoors and craziness of the New York life. I also like my privacy, and I don't mind spending time at home with a good book or a movie. I am a true, stuborn Taurus with a sensitive side.
Do you want to know more??? Just ask...

In August 2002, I started working at Midlothian High School, in Midlothian, TX. I am the choir accompanist, working with two great directors, Mr. Patty and Ms. Kerzee, and over 130 amazing students. I am so blessed, for my days are filled with laughter, music and adventure. My most favorite moment???  Once Upon A Mattress with the A Cappella Choir.

Love to one and all!
