EPSOM 6 SEYMOUR 0
A mixture of Epsom first and reserve team players had their first hit-out for 2005 with a game against BASL new boys Seymour in hot conditions at Howard Street on Saturday. Epsom dominated the match from start to finish, with Liam Jukes having a relatively quiet day in the Epsom goal, most of his touches were from bask-passes from his team mates. Highlights of the day included the ironic event of Leigh Merchant injuring his nose as he headed a low ball and an incident late in the game when Daniel Mai decided to mount his opponent as they contested for the ball in front of the clubrooms. The consolation for the Seymour player in question was that at least Maio wasn't wearing his short shorts which he was wearing pre-match, as he'd found a pair that fitted a little better.
Goals for Epsom: Leigh Merchant 3, Ollie Smith 1, Aaron Hall 1, own goal 1.
On Sunday the Epsom youth team had their first match for 2005 as they went down 2-1 to a Spring Gully side at Stanley Avenue. The match was played in difficult conditions with a combination of heat and strong winds effecting the game which ended with a sudden severe downpour seconds after full time. For Epsom, Rod Kane was on the scoresheet. The boys will be keen to get off to a winning start in round one on Sunday morning when they are at home to Moama. (11-4-05)
