WORRY OVER SCORPION HOME
Recent optimism about the future of the club's home has evaporated and been replaced with serious concern for the Scorpions after a recent unfortunate turn of events. Plans had been in the pipeline for a new high quality home for the Club featuring up to six full size pitches, plus some smaller junior pitches and a new two storey clubroom building.
Just as things were starting to look rosy it has been revealed that the money set aside for this project is no longer available, meaning that the new complex can't go ahead. The problem now is that despite the club no longer being provided with a new venue, the council still wants to go ahead with plans to transform the Howard Street Reserve (The club's current home ground) into a built up shopping complex, school and community centre which would leave the club homeless.
This is a gross injustice to the Club who have been calling the venue home for the best part of thirty years. The people of Epsom have also been threatened recently with losing the only other recreational area in the suburb, The Bendigo Golf Club. Epsom is one of Bendigo's fastest growing areas and recreational venues are a critical part of today's society.
This simply cannot be allowed to happen, so please sign one of the petitions that are currently floating around the clubrooms and stick up for the Club and the entire community of Epsom.
