Until 1968, the Epsilon Sigma Sorority was known as the Eunomian Society.  The society was organized in 1879 as a literary society to promote the arts and encourage appreciation for higher learning. The word Eunomian means "well named".  When the society became Epsilon Sigma, it became more of a social organization.  Epsilon Sigma functions as both a service and social organization that promotes the Christian values of Shorter College.  As Ep Sigs, or Eunomians, we still "strive to represent a body of young people in search of those things most worthwhile in life" (Argo, 1914).

     Epsilon Sigma has adopted several colors and symbols to represent the values and beliefs of our organization.  Light green is the color for victory.  Dark green is the color for peace.  Pink is the color for unity.  The white rose is a symbol of friendship.  Our motto is simply: Faithful, Loyal, Victorious.

     The purpose of pledge for Epsilon Sigma is to promote a sense of belonging, to develop an attitude of respect for each other, sisters and pledges alike, and to enhance the growth of the individual and the sisterhood.

     Epsilon Sigma is one of the oldest traditions here at Shorter College. As sisters, we strive to uphold the values and platforms that our past sisters have set forth.  Being a part of our sisterhood joins you not only with traditions, but an attitude of service to our school and community.  As an Ep Sig member you truly have sisters for a lifetime.

The girls of Ep Sigma are FAITHFUL and LOYAL;
VICTORIOUS and PEACEFUL, together we stand.
And so as the years pass, we'll always be loyal;
We'll always sing out.
