Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was established on January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University by five illustrious women.

Soror Arizona Cleaver Stemmons
Soror Fannie Pettie Watts
Soror Viola Tyler Goings
Soror Myrtle Tyler Faithful
Soror Pearl Anna Neal

These women with the help of Charles Taylor and Langston Taylor, members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, created an organization based on Service, Scholarship, Sisterly Love, and Finer Womanhood.

Zeta Phi Beta was the first Greek-letter organization to charter a Chapter in Africa (1948); to form youth and adult Auxillary groups - Pearlettes, Amicettes, Archonettes, and Amicae; and to be constitutionally bound to a brother organization, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.

Zeta's national and local programs include endowment of its National Educational Foundation, community and outreach services and support of affiliate organizations.  Zeta chapters and auxiliary groups have given untotaled hours of voluntary service to educate the public, assist youth, provide scholarships, support organized charities and promote legislation for social and civic change.
