Our 5 Principles
As sisters, we strive to live our lives morally and to positively represent Sigma Lambda Gamma. We respect all people and cultures and live by life's Golden Rules.
Morals & Ethics
Community Service
Our Natioanl Philanthropies are the TRIO Program, which helps low-income and first generation students obtain higher education, and Breast Cancer Awareness, which educates society on one of the leading causes of death among women. Our service to others not only empowers us but our entire community. It opens up our eyes to a better understanding of wordly issues.
Academics
As members, our number one goal is our education. We hold our members to high academic standards and require sisters to maintain a 2.5/4.0 cumulative GPA. We also provide our members with academic resources necessary to succeed in college, supporting our belief that education is the key to a better future.
Cultural Awareness
Sigma Lambda Gama believes that "Culture is Pride, Pride is Success." We celebrate our diversity and encourage our members to explore and share their cultures. In doing this, we promote and respect the understanding of our cultural heritage.
Social Interaction
As sisters, we believe positive social interaction not only strengthens our sisterhood, it benefits the community at large. Through our campus programming and community service, we are balancing the needs of our inner selves with the needs of those we serve.
Purpose
Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. promotes standards of excellence in morality, ethics, and education. We work to better serve the needs and wants of all people by disseminating information about the diverse culture we share. The sorority maintains respect for the views of others through this valuing, thereby enhancing our understanding of one another and bettering our community, our country, and the world.
