THE BEACH/CLUBHOUSE AREA
This is a picture of the old clubhouse
Epping Forest has a beach area located on the Severn River near Clements Creek.  The community docks are adjacent to the beach area and the Clubhouse is also located there.  The beach area also has a playground for the kids.  A pier extents into the river with a diving board on the end and swiming lanes to one side.  The water is 10-12 feet deep at the end of the pier.  During the summer there is a lifeguard on duty from about 11AM - 5PM during the weekends and weekdays while school is out.  One of the questions that many people ask is how clean is the water to swim in.  We participate in Operation Clearwater to try to monitor our water quality.

There is activity going on all year long at the Clubhouse and Beach Area.  On New Year's eve there is usually a party at the Clubhouse.  In January, many of the Foresters come down to the Superbowl party and a chance to see neighbors that you have not seen since the weather got cold.  In March is the St. Patrick's Day party with corn beef and cabbage - and green beer.  In April and May, the YFO holds the annual bull roast (with the beef cooked in a pit on the beach), the welcome aboard party for new neighbors, and the Boat Club meeting/dinner.  Summer arrives with a School's out party for the youngsters.  The summer season ends with the annual Labor Day events with games and contests for all ages.  The weekend after Labor Day is the much anticipated annual meeting where the community settles on a budget, new board members are elected and other items of interest are discussed.  In October there is an October Feast with German food.  The Boat Club holds an Oyster Roast the first weekend in November with Raw, Steamed and Fried Oysters (there is other food for those who do not like Oysters!).  The Oysters are steamed right on the beach.
