Bike Safety Day
East Pennsboro High School Key Club, in conjunction with the EP Middle School Builder's Club and the Cumberland County Kiwanis Club will be hosting their first Bike Rodeo and Safety Day for the students of the East Pennsboro School District and surrounding community.  The Bike Rodeo will be held SATURDAY, MAY 9TH FROM 9:00 AM TO 12:00 PM AT THE EAST PENNSBORO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
The Bike Rodeo will consist of many activities that show the children how to be safe on the road through our interactive bike course.  Students will ride their bike through different circumstances and learn the proper techniques when dealing with these circumstances, such as how to properly stop and look both ways before crossing a street, how to swerve to miss harmful objects, how to ride straight, etc.  Before the child goes through the course, they will have their bike inspected by a professional and have their helmets checked by high school students and adults who have recently reviewed the proper fitting of a bicycle helmet based on the guidelines set forward by the American Trauma Society.  After the child successfully completes the interactive bike course, they will recieve a certificate of completion form the EP Key Club.

In addittion to the bike and helmet checks and bike course, there will be many other activities for the children and their families.  Baked goods and drinks will be on sale by the EPMS Builder's Club, EPHS Key Club, and the Kiwannis Club members.  There will also be children's games (for a small fee), a coloring contest, safety handouts, live music (hopefully!!), and a bike raffle for the families.  (Any money raised from this event will be donated to Catlin's Smiles)

We ask that any participants pre-register for the bike rodeo so that we may have an idea of the number of children participating.  Please feel free to bring friends, family, neighbors, etc, even if they are from outside the school district.  As a bonus to pre-registering, for every child that is registered, that family will recieve a free entry into our bike cife certificate drawing.
**Although Pre-Registration is preferred, it is not mandatory.  We will glady accept "ride-in" registrations on the day of the event.
