On my last few days in Swaziland, I went to an Umhlanga (Reed Dance) that was performed by something like 700 married women - about five or six times the total number of spectators. In attendance was King Mswati III of Swaziland and the infamous Colonel Muammar Qadhafi of Libya. Though the grainy photo shown to the left didn't turn out so hot, I was pretty shockingly close to two heads of state, especially considering the infamy of the latter. The lower photo shows just how dang close both of them were to me as they walked past. Crazy, huh? |
