Saint Francis of Assisi

St Francis is one of the most holy saints of God.  His witness is that of a true alter Christus, for he bore the marks of Christ crucified, the holy Stigmata.  To serve the poor and abandoned, he became poor himself, though his family was of prominence and wealth. Thus in every way he wanted to conform to the Gospel and to bring all men to Christ Jesus. He hugged lepers and proclaimed the Good News to kings and popes. Ordained to the Holy Diaconate, he preached not with words only but with his life as well. Many saw the poor man of Assisi as an example of holiness in his day, and many continue to be inspired by his holy, Christ-centered life and serve the poor in the name of Jesus.
