NATURAL HISTORY
with Mr. Hatfield (Bullard High School)
Your Instructor
FOR THE PARENTS

If you're like me, you probably took a Biology course in high school.
For many years Biology was the only science course that every student in California was required to take in high school. The idea obviously was that Biology was 'easier' and more accessible than sciences such as physics and chemistry, in part because it could be taught without a lot of mathematics.

My, how things have changed! Today Biology is one of the most challenging (and exciting!) fields of science.  The spectacular growth of our present economy is in part fueled by equally-spectacular gains in biological research.

Here at Bullard we want to rise to meet the challenge of a 21st century, and we propose to do it by offering
instruction that raises the bar for all students. We want a significant number of our Knights to have the kind of education that will allow them to choose careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and  biotechnology.

We know we can count on you, the Bullard parents, to support us in this mission !  Please contact
the instructor immediately if you have any special concerns.
The shores of another world:  the dry lake bed at Edwards AFB in the Mojave Desert, where your instructor went to high school.  Even in this hostile setting life has found a way.  So far, on planet Earth, life has always found a way....so far.
