Master
What is a DM- A DM or dungeon Master also some times called Game Masters are the person who runs the Dungeon or campiaghn. he Makes the story and the players Play out the roles. DM's Job-The DM must make a story design maps and narrate the story to the players. he must know the rules better than anyone. He also must be able to describe the suroundings to the players. more than that he mu7st also play numerous characters that interact with the players from monsters to the hobo on the corner. Map Making-its important you have a detailed map so that you can place the players into it and keep track of all there movements. also note iof there is cover or if the floor is slippery all this must be noted on the map so you can referance it quickly. Monster Creation-adding monsters is important but remember don't put a Challage Rate 8 monster up against 3rd level player 9 times out of 10 they will lose. Also make sure the monsters fit the terrain and climite you won't find a yeti in the desert.make it fair or they players won't want to come and play anymore. Random Encounters-Random monsters can be good it randomly selects the monsters the players will face but can be aggravateing if you want them to face a single monster and you never roll that one. to do random you make up a list of encounters not always bad. and then number them usally 6 random encounters is good. then when you wish roll the random encounter and see what they face. Set Encounters-This is the same as random only you place monsters in certain areas and then when the player comes upon that area the monster stikes or encounter happens. Combineing the two- its usally best to combine the two make random encounters but with certain set bosses or encounters. NPC's-Using NPC characters or non player characters is a must. any player not controled by a PC is an NPC and you must have stats for them( at least the major ones). Can Players kill whom they want- of course they can but you never know that begger might be a level 20 assassin or that armor shop owner may be a level 10 fighter its safe to say you don't want them slaughtering every one they see keep it under control. Monster Eplanation- if you don't under stand the monsters area i will explain what each part of the monsters page means, Size-usally means how big they are from tiny to gargantuane. Hitdice-this is how many times you roll a die to determine HP. Speed-how fast the monster can travel. AC-determines the monsters Armor Class Inititive-gives monsters bonus to see if it attacks first. Damage-tells its attacks how how much damage they do. Special attacks-tells the monsters uniqe attacks. Saves-tells bonuses to saving throws. Abilitys-tells monsters stats. Skills-tells monsters skills. Feats-Tells monsters feats it can use Climet/Terrain-tells where that monster is found at. Orginization-tells if the monster is found in a group and how many if its so. Alignment-tells monsters alignment. Challenge Rateing-tells the diffaculty rateing of monster. Single Dungons Vs Campaigns- a single dungeon is short and usally just to build the character up almost has no story line at all and is can be boreing. Campaihns on the other hand are long drawn out and have alot of story line and lolts of interaction this is where the players can be the heros(or villians). Traps- ok this is a must you almost have to have a trap or two in a dungeon ^^ but don't go over board give the poor bastereds a chance! Should you allow new Character Classes- well never let a character class that is over powering each class has a plus and adraw back if it unbalances the campaihn then no same goes for races.( first person who asks for sayain gets shot!!!) Weather-yeah implement weather into the dungeons you know a light ran can really hide that mud monster ^^.
