scene 2: Edoras
Meanwhile, in the human kingdom of Rohan, turmoil reigns. King Thoden sits decrepid on his throne while his son and nephew roam the plains slaying orcs. The Ents gather together in an Entmoot to decide whether or not to go to war (The Entmoot Song - We're Called the Ents). One of the Ents, Quickbeam, wonders why Old Entish is such a slow language (Why Can't Old Entish?).

The three are captured by Faramir, the young captain of Gondor, and he brings them back to his lair, where he learns that the Hobbits carry the One Ring. Faramir, however, realizes that he must let the Hobbits go and begins his journey back to Gondor alone (Unworthy of the Ring).

He sends a messanger to Thoden, begging him to come to the aid of the White City (Help Me!). The Rohirrim prepare to go to battle, and owyn asks her uncle to go with them, but he refuses (I Can See It). As they travel the haunted paths, the ghosts rise up and follow them. owyn reflects on her practically non-existant love-life (You Can't Get a Man with a Sword). Together, Dernhelm and Merry defeat the Witch-King, but not before Dernhelm reveals that he is, in fact, owyn. owyn falls, greviously wounded, and Merry hears Thoden's last words (Tell Her I Love Her). Aragorn arrives, and he and omer drive back the hordes of orcs. owyn and Merry are taken to the Houses of Healing. They are taken care of by an old woman named Ioreth, who recognizes Aragorn as soon as he arrives, because "The hands of the King are the hands of the healer" (The King). Eowyn, Merry, and Faramir are healed by Aragorn, but owyn and Faramir are depressed and convinced that their lives are going nowhere (If He/She Can't Love Me). Arwen arrives for her wedding to Aragorn, but he catches her making eyes at Legolas. She assures him of her fidelity (Always True to You in my Fashion), and the two plan their wedding (Old Fashioned Wedding). Frodo and his friend Sam set out to bring the Ring to the Elves, but are interrupted by Frodo's cousins, Merry and Pippin, who are chasing food while being chased by an angry Farmer Maggot (Lovely Mushrooms).
scene 1: The Prologue (Mordor)
Galadriel tells the story of Sauron, who wants to dominate all life in Middle-Earth, and knows that Men will help him acheive his goal, because men are weak (
