Hi everyone, Here are the Summer Explosion VI poll results... =) Thanks to everyone who replied! [1] On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being awesome, 5 being average, and 1 horrible, rate Summer Explosion VI. 10 - 1 vote 9.5 - 1 vote 9 - 7 votes 8.5 - 1 vote 8 - 3 votes (NOTE: Looks like everyone really enjoyed the card overall!!) "It would have been a stronger show with a main event that didn't have to follow the Reason/Rock match of the year. The main event needed Thompson or Heather/Tricia...something to progress that storyline. Jurkschat needed to do more. The UWC was good....the d'Artois/McMannis final matchup was great. The UWC semis were better than the finals as far as match-writing." [2] With that being said, was this p-p-v better, worse, or on par with our last p-p-v, EGOS & ICONS? What about the fed as a whole? "E/I was good, but I felt that the angles and matches going into SE were better and hyped more. I/W is getting better every time out I feel." "E & I was more angle driven. SE6 seemed to concentrate a lot more on the wrestling. I think SE6 is my favorite though." "the innovative main event (two wrestlers-two matches-two nights) made E&I the best I've read in a while. Also, E&I was a bigger card. The undercard for this ppv was far better, with the UWC, the tag title match, and the very hot Rock/Reason." "Tough question. I think this PPV was a little more on par with EotW, as far as the blood & guts goes. This PPV is hard to compare to E&I because E&I followed a whole separate premise this year (2 days, same main event). Hard to say, I could just say I enjoyed both of them very much. The fed as a whole is in great shape right now, IMO. Participation looks to be at an all time high (the countdown show was great evidence of that). And I like this new schedule better too because it gives me the weekend to RP for Monday's packet. Hopefully this will increase partcipation all-around since some other people may only have weekends to do this as well." "Hmmm, i would have to say on par. I/W ppv's are always worth reading from first match to the last." "I think the fed is going in a better direction. The angles as a whole were great. Arcola as the champ should make it really interesting, and seeing mcMannis get the push he deserves goes well." "Better than E&I. The I/W as a whole is on par" [3] On SE6, what were the best and worst matches, both angle and writing wise? "I liked The Main Event, thought it was awesome. Hoped HitC came out ok... and the Triple Threat match was interesting as hell for me." "The Hell in the Cell match and the main event were the best matches, angle-wise and writing-wise." "Best Anglewise- Rock v. Spades. In the back of my mind I was wondering why exactly Spades wasn't booked. Glad I didn't open my mouth and ask though :). Writingwise- Both UWC Semi-Finals matches. They were involved, precise, and suspensful. Every writer seemed to delve into the characters and bring out the best in them. Not to mention they were simply fun to read." "Writing - All of them really. Especially Rock/Reason, Travers/Arcola/St. Clair, and McMannis/d'Artois. Angle - Rock/Reason, McMannis/d'Artois (set's up a nice little feud at the end), and RRJ/d'Artois (selling the injury and showing d'Artois as a real bastard)" "Reason vs. Rock-best" "Best Match: The main event by a hair. The 30 foot fall in the Hell in a Cell was a bit unrealistic to me." "I liked the Arcola, Travers and St. Clair match. Half way through my reading I kind of predicted that Arcola would take it, but I always thought he deserved the World title anyways." "- reasons vs. rock was awesome!" "the McMannis post-match was a great touch, as was RRJ in the ambulence. Reason/Rock was awesome from the moment the commentators started talking. The Doctor scene was excellent too." "Best - Rock/Reason" "Best writing: Reason/Rock - Best Angle: Reason/Rock" [4] Where there any results you did not agree with? Which were they? "I think everything that was suppose to happen did. Not saying I didn't agree with it, but I hadn't pegged Arcola to win the triple threat. That came as sort of a surprise to me. But I've got no problem with it." "You just gotta watch out for the religious themes (i.e. Rock getting "crucified.") Not that I care about it being used sacreligiously (though anything involving religion is bound to offend at least one person), I don't like it based on the fact that it's just an old and overdone angle, especially in e-wrestling. It's in feds everywhere. I think this a first time in maybe a year or two when somebody neutral has held the World Title (Arcola), which is great because people from either side (and other neutrals) can go after the belt w/o worrying about whether their character is playing face or heel. Plus the '99 and '00 ID4 Rumble winners didn't win the title at SE; good thing Arcola won because that proves the ID4 Rumble winner _does_ stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning the World Title, no matter how many opponents are in the SE Main Event." "the main event was probably close to call...i didnt see st. clair losing the title" "Sanders should have been added to Watterson/Prophet/Idol as a four-way, or tag teams. I'm interested to see how things will go with Arcola as champion. Matthew Reason as IC champ makes perfect sense. Fleur shouldn't have a made-up (non-sanctioned) title if she has a real one in the tag belts. Where was Fusion?" [5] What was the biggest shocker, if any, of the event? "Even though I realized who it was when he lowered to the top of the cage, Spades being the one who fought Rock, and not Reason." "Johnny Spades' turn shocked the hell out of me. And it takes a lot to shock me in this game. :)" "- johnny spades wrestling as reasons for the first half of the ic title match" "I'm sure Spades is gonna get the most votes. But St. Clair on roids was cool. You didn't see it coming because lately that part of his character hasn't been fully addressed. Wasn't all that shocked that RRJ lost in the first match...you predicted RRJ to win the UWC on the Countdown show, therefore I knew it wasn't meant to be :)." "I may be a little bias here, but I think revealing that Rock had been fighting Spades the whole time instead of Reason was the biggest shocker." "Spades wrestling the HitC as Reason" [6] On a scale of 1-10, quickly rate each aspect of the card: Matchwriting -> Highest: 10, Lowest: 7, Average: 8.8 On card angles -> Highest: 10, Lowest: 6.5, Average: 8.1 Characters' work -> Highest: 10, Lowest: 8, Average: 8.7 Flow of card -> Highest: 10, Lowest: 6, Average: 8.1 Buildup of card -> Highest: 10, Lowest: 6, Average: 8.3 [7] In the past couple of months, what feud/angles have you enjoyed the most? Least? What storys would you like to see in the next couple of months? "I have enjoyed the Arcola, St. Clair and Travers feud. I am also enjoying Dan Watterson's push. I enjoy reading about this guy and the top heel of the promotion, Robert d'Artois. I don't know why, I just do. I would like to see Nate McMannus take on Justin Arcola. Arcola is also a young wrestler, so I think that should be played on as well." "Travers turning face. McMannis selling injuries and still participating in UWC. I'd like to see Arcola-Travers. I'd like to see RRJ get a bigger push. Hell, Sanders-Watterson should be good too! I wanna see where St. Clair goes from here." "Billy Rock is about to rekindle his feud w/ Spades, and that's gonna be another maclious bloodthirsty feud...but Billy Rock has been in malicious bloodthirsty feuds for a long time now. After this run with Spades I think it would be good for his character if he got wrapped up into something lighter...something that doesn't get to the level of bloodlust, because we've been seeing it a lot lately, maybe too much. When he goes for the World Title, for example, it should be just about the Title; the bloodlust is secondary, or even not there at all. McMannis needs to drop the NA title to somebody like Maverick who's put forth a lot of effort, and go after Reason's IC title. That'll be a great feud. Since we have so many top Rpers, it couldn't hurt if some of them got involved in the tag division. Would certainly boost the competition."" "Most: Anything with Billy Rock. They guy knows how to draw heat." "I really liked doing Rock/Reason, but I was a part of it. From a spectator's standpoint I really got into Travers/St. Clair/Arcola like a couple of weeks before the card. SCL's and Xile have really touched up the tag team scene. The Ultimate Wrestling Challenge buildup was really cool, and it was awesome and convenient that it showed us RRJ/d'Artois again which is a feud my interested has gravitated toward. I'm looking forward to continuing the feud with Reason, because we've got a lot of good things in store for those following it. I wanna see what St. Clair does now. I want to see if McMannis and d'Artois stack anything on top of the post-match attack. I want to see what the purpose of RRJ giving Bootie to Jurkschat was. The PPV left the door wide open to a lot of possibilities." "I'm really enjoying the Reason/Rock feud. I also like the main event scene as well. The only thing that I think is weak is the North American Title scene. McMannis doesn't have any really strong opponents. Guys like RRJ, d'Artois, and Spades should be moved there for a while to liven things up." "most- Rock/Reason/Spades......Jurkschat/SSC and Jurkschat/McMannis...anything with Travers or Arcola. like to see: more of the Reason/Spades alliance.....McMannis/Travers alliance....CJ/SSC alliance....something with Malcolm, Coop, Scorp, Thranton" "I loved the whole mind games interaction between Rock and Reason. It's something I wish I could have come up with :) It was an interesting twist to the whole "ultra-gore" thing Rock's got going for him. (Except, of course, in the HitC payoff :) " [8] What do you currently like and dislike about the IWF/WOW? "I like the talent, and the match writing. All top notch" "I/W is a very solid fed with no real ego problems that i have encountered. Everyone works together which is a HUGE plus for this federation." "There's really nothing to complain about. The heat is really being turned up. The only thing I'd fade out is the heel Jurkschat character. I really liked him better as a face and a fair, responsible prez. I'm not a huge fan of the "politics" angles anymore." "- love the cards and role plays....wish the web page was updated" "The angles are awesome!!! Rock has had two amazing feuds in a row, and looks to have a third on the way. Jurkschat makes a wonderful heel owner! I like the SSC/steroids angle. The cards are on-time, which I like." "I love the way the guys get into the storylines. It makes it a lot more enjoyable for everyone else to read." "I like the people involved. They're all really cool to work with and plan angles. Hell, we got to book something on the fly while everyone was waiting for hour 3; that was really cool :). The casual swearing has improved slightly, but I think a standard should be set so that people can get on the same track with censors (i.e. is fuck not okay on Mayhem but okay on PPVs? And on mayhem some people bleep shit and goddamn but some let it go ahead) And I think announcers should NEVER swear, not even on occasion because then people will take it further. Announcers just don't swear, no matter how hardcore the action gets. [Holy Shit crowd pop!!] is okay, and funny. but Jim Robson: OH MY FUCKING LORD BULLSHIT PISSFUCKER!! is stupid." [9] Who do you think are currently the top roleplayers in the IWF/WOW (besides yourself!) Top vote getters (in no real order...): Billy Rock, RRJ, Shane St. Clair, Justin Arcola, Nate McMannis, Matthew Reason, Eric Travers [11] How do you feel you have been treated recently? "very good, chris...as well as everyone else has treated me very nice since signing with the i/w" [12] Any final comments? "Great fucking job... best ppv in a while that I've seen." "IWF/WOW is one of the best [no, the best] fed i have ever been in when it ocmes to storylines and talent. Every guy does their best to make angles run smoothly and it is alot of fun to work with everyone which is very rare. I hope this continues cause i tihnk after these two very solid ppv's [Egos & Icons, Summer Explosion] in all rightness I/W should be ranked very high in the fed ranks." That's it... Once again, thanks for everyones replies! I've replied to some of the polls, so, that's about it... - CJ
