THE 1999 IWF/WOW GOLDEN TURNBUCKLE AWARDS!!!!!! ========================================================= (Thunderstruck by AC/DC plays, and the camera fades in to show a ballroom. There is a stage at one end with a large Golden Turnbuckle statuette beside the back left part of the stage. The statuette is of a ringpost with 3 turnbuckles on it, with the ropes jutting out from each side. The stage looks very similar to the one used by the WWF for the Slammies. It is surrounded by ropes on three sides, with a podium at the front, and a set of steps leading up to the stage. The IWF/WOW logo is on the front of the podium. In front of the stage is where the tables are set up. All of the IWF/WOW roster is in attendance, and almost all of them are in tuxedos.) Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome your host for tonight's festivities, Mr Anthony Edwards!!! (Edwards comes out from behind a curtain to the right of the stage. He is dressed in a black tuxedo, with a red bowtie and red cumberbund, and his dark blond hair is neatly styled. Edwards walks up behind the podium and grabs the microphone.) Anthony Edwards: Welcome everyone to the 1999 IWF/WOW GOLDEN TURNBUCKLES!!!! [The crowd cheers] Anthony Edwards: This is our third annual show, and the end of the IWF/WOW's third full year. And what a year it has been, marked most notably by our change in leadership, as Mr. William Foster has taken over as President from owner Chris Jurkschat. [polite applause, and Foster stands and waves his thanks to the crowd.] Anthony Edwards: To begin tonight's festivities, as is customary, I have to do an opening number. [There is a collective groan from the wrestlers in attendance. Edwards looks offended] Anthony Edwards: Now listen, they aren't _that_ bad!! [The wrestlers laugh] Anthony Edwards: Anyways, we've reworked the lyrics to 1999 by Prince. And now with the accompaniment of the Squeaky McQueen Jazz Octet, here is "IWF/WOW 1999" [The Band start playing the music, and quite well, to Prince's 1999.] Anthony Edwards: Don't worry, I won't bore you I only want you 2 have some fun I was dreamin' when I wrote this Forgive me if it goes astray But when I woke up this mornin' Coulda sworn I saw Tricia Lane [Eric Travers gives a playful look to Lane, who looks embarassed] The sky was all purple, Eric Travers was suplexin all. Next thing I saw Death & Destruction, Fighting Sunshine and Shaw in the mall. [The camera pans to Sunshine and Shaw who are smiling] 'Cuz they say two thousand zero zero party starts, tomorrow night So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999 I was dreamin' when I wrote this So sue me if I go 2 fast The IWF/WOW is just a party, and this party is meant 2 last Mayhem is all around us, my mind says prepare 2 fight So if you gotta scrap we're gonna watch you guys tomorrow night Yeah, they say two thousand zero zero party starts, tomorrow night So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999 Yeah Lemme tell ya somethin' If U didn't come 2 party, don't bother knockin' on my door SE4 is in one night, and baby the I/W's ready 2 roar Yeah, Cooper's got a bomb, Hightower and Hades could be in dismay But before they'll let that happen, They'll give their all in the 3 way fray. Let's bring.. out our presenter... phew... for Pay-Per-View of the Year, ICEMAN. [The non-lyrical version of Puff Daddy's "P.E. 2000" plays at a moderate volume, as the one and only, "Detroit's Own" the Iceman makes his way onto the stage. He is wearing cream colored suede shoes, cream colored slacks, and a cream colored jacket that conceals most of his white cashmere shirt. His hair is longer, the sides thicker, and he has the start of a beard. His build looks to be as tremendous as ever, and his smile is radiant.] Iceman: Well, I must say it's a breath of fresh air to be back on live television. HI MOM! I'll try to keep my sarcastic disposition at bay here to present this award. My mawma always told me to be on yer bestest behaver on teevee. (grin) Ahh yes, the award. President Foster will be putting his John Hancock on a disgustingly large check tonight so that I will present the award for Pay-Per-View of the Year. Hmm...how EXACTLY do you do that. I mean, sure, I read of all the nominees, open up the 50 dollar envelop with the cute red sticker, and announce the winner. Then what? Are you gonna have pimple faced Johnny from the Burger King around the corner come up here wearing the ppv's logo on his arse and take the award to President Foster's table? I'm SO CONFUSED! (deep voice)...and here are the nominees for Pay-Per-View of the Year... [The Iceman sits there...tapping is foot...rapping his knuckles on the podium...] Iceman: You guys gonna like...run the reel? [A tech guy comes up to the Iceman and whispers something in his ear that obviously disturbs him...] Iceman: WHAT!?! The cheap ass doesn't even have the money to have one of those spiffy nominee videos made up? Foster! You disgust me. You're actually going to let a show hosted by LISA KUDROW out do us!?! Sheesh, no wonder I left. The nominees are: ...Egos and Icons 2... ...End of the World 3... ...Christmas Madness 3... Iceman: Annnnd the winner is... [Iceman pulls on the sticker...yanks on the sticker...pulls with all his might on the sticker...rolls around on the ground going absolutely berzerk trying to remove the sticker...begins stomping uncontrollabley all over the envelop, and the sticker... folds up a chair and bashes the sticker...Razor Ron Jeremy runs up on stage and begins giving the sticker the Bootie Call, won't budge. The two men begin to brainstorm... Razor Ron Jeremy farts on the sticker, causing it to peel from the page, and causing Iceman to nearly pass out. He picks up the envelop and chases RRJ of stage...] Iceman: The winner is...END OF THE WORLD 3! [Iceman looks around as the crowd and I/W staff/wrestlers applaud politely. The applause dies down and the Iceman is still intently scanning the room...] Iceman: WHERE THE HELL IS JOHNNY!!! Cmon Foster! I'm sure your cheap ass could handle going to Kinko's and printing out a big logo! Geeze, billboards and cable TV is cheap enough, but a big cardboard logo! WHOA! Chaper 11 in the horizon. I'm going back to Springy Fresh Retirement Home. I have a chess game to finish with Bruno Sammrantino...(sigh)... [The Iceman walks off stage shaking his head...] [Anthony Edwards returns to the podium] Anthony Edwards: Moving right along, as we try and forget Iceman, we have the award for Most Improved Wrestler of the Year. Here to present the award is one of the IWF/WOW's originals, "Professor" Steve West. (25 or 5 to 4 by Chicago plays in the background as Steve West comes to the podium to present the next award) Steve West: Aaah the Golden Turnbuckle Awards. The elite in professional wrestling competing for recognition by their peers. Once again, yours truly is here to present an award which means a lot to the three nominated individuals. So without further adue, here are the three nominees for Most Improved Wrestler of the Year The first nominee is a former North American Champion and bonafide pain in the ass. He may be in script terms be a "face" but he is nothing more than an annoyance in my eyes. The first nominee is Hightower. [Polite applause, as the camera shows Hightower glaring at West.] Our second nominee is a legend here in the Federation. He is not currently active in the promotion, however his Legacy lives on. Our second nominee is Johnny Skiles. [More polite applause] Last but certainly not least, the third nominee is a man who has put in a lot of effort in the IWF/WOW over the past year. He is deserving of this nomination and has certainly shown many, including myself that he is worthy to be in this promotion, regardless of who he deems to affiliate with. He is Jim Shaw. [The camera shows Shaw, who looks quite excited] Now people have said to me "Steve, what if Hightower wins? Can you hand him the award?". Well of course I could, because I am a man, and while we hate each other, I can still be a professional man, which he has yet to prove. The winner of the 1999 GOLDEN TURNBUCKLE FOR Name The Award is...... a man who has believed all his career that he his a worthy contender for the World Title... I am referring to.... Hightower. [The crowd gives a round of apluase as Hightower gets up from his seat, waves at his fellow wrestlers, then holds out his hand for Amy and the two of them walk up to the podium together. As they walk up to the podium.....Hightower pauses briefly in front of Steve West who is trying to walk off the podium, and the two have a vicious staredown, then Hightower extends his hand out to Steve West, who stares at it, looks back up at Hightower, stares down at his hand again.] Steve West: Let me make this clear son. I may shake your hands now to award you this distinction, but don't consider me anything more than a decent man. If this were a wrestling ring, you would have been ripped to shreds by now. [West shakes his hand, which generates more applause from the people in the room. Then Steve West leaves the podium as Amy and Hightower stand there, and Hightower holds the award for a moment looking at it, then looks out to the room.] Hightower: Well I must say this is a shock, and a honour. i am glad that people are seeing that I have gone beyond anything I was before in the past here, and I have many people to thank for that. First and foremost i would like to thank my family for supporting me....and i would like to thank Amy....who has really helped me keep a level head these past few weeks, and who has helped me stay focused on my raod to the World Heavyweight Championship. [Hightower pauses.] Hightower: I would like to thanks the fans......all the people cheering me on either from the arena, or their home.....I would like to thank to office people here in the IWF/WOW who have made my stay a pleasant one. Also there are some other people that i want to thank quickly, and without them, i could not be here right now. [Hightower pauses and looks around the room.] Hightower: Two names that are not here right now.....Sean Eden...and Randy Bryson....two opponents who gave me one hell of a fight for the North American strap. [polite applause from the fellow wrestlers in the room.] Hightower: Another name i would have to be thanking is Razor Ron Jeremy....a guy who gave me a few tips to help calm myself down, and to have some fun while I am not in that squared circle....and for teaching me how to have some fun when i am in that squared circle! [RRJ stands up and gives a big thumbs up to Hightower, then sits back down.] Hightower: The next person I have to thank is a man I have already faced once this year, and I will be facing him in the main event at Summer Explosion 4. He has brought out a fighting spirit in me..... and that man is Cooper Concrete. [Cooper nods his head at Hightower.] Hightower: Now the final man who i have to thank....is a man who brought out a fighting spirit, a competitive spirit unlike anything else i have ever felt before. He kept me on my toes...reminded me it wasn't about who was old or young, or popular or hated, it was about who was the better man....thank you...Steve West! [Steve West looks up at Hightower, shocked, as the people in the room give the loudest round of appluase yet. Then West finally nods at Hightower, a nod of agreement, and respect.] Hightower: And to all of the others who have been there for me, and been patient with me while I have been going through all of my trials and tribulations, i say thank you....and I'm gonna make this year...the best year I have ever had! [The crowd cheers as Hightower and Amy walk away from the podium, and back to their seats.] [Edwards returns to the podium] Anthony Edwards: To present the next Golden Turnbuckle, here are the hosts of Monday Mayhem, John Robertson, Jack Anderson, and Rick Wright. [The crowd applaude as the three make their way from their table, and to the podium. All three are dressed in tuxedos.] John Robertson: The Award for Most Underrated Wrestler of the Year goes to the man judged by his peers to be deserving of more recognition than he is currently receiving for his work in the ring. This award signifies... Rick Wright: Will you just shut it and announce the nominees? The faster I get out of this monkey suit, the better I'll feel. Jack Anderson: One night won't kill you. Rick Wright: You wanna bet? John Robertson: I overheard Darian Anderson telling someone she loves to see men in tuxedos, it does something for her. [Rick Wright stops tugging at his bow tie, and collar, stands up straight, and strikes a GQ pose] Rick Wright: [In a phony sounding deep voice] Continue on John. [Anderson and Robertson chuckle, and shake their heads] John Robertson: The nominees for most Underrated Wrestler of the Year are... Magnus Colby... [Polite applause] Payne... [More polite applause] and "Diamond" Jim Shaw [Still more applause] Jack Anderson: And the Golden Turnbuckle goes to... [Rick Wright snatches the envelope from Anderson's hand and opens it.] Rick Wright: [In the same phony voice] Payne!!! (Payne walks up to the podium, decked out in a tuxedo and sunglasses, as his Pain Inc. comrades cheer him on) Payne: I'm gonna try and make this as short and sweet as I can. I hate getting all dressed up in these stupid suits. Well... it finally seems as if SOMEONE out there realizes the potential I have in this great federation. Sure, things may hae not gone as perfect as I'd hoped at first. I was stuck as the bumbling heel, and berated Anthony Edwards during each of my interviews. I knew I could do better, because this was 1996. This was my beginning in IWF, later known as the I/W. I was here in Canada, far away from my home in Connecticut. On top of putting myself over in this promotion, I had made contact with an old friend, by the name of Tarryn Hoff. Tarryn had reserrected the promotion that I got my start in...the Universal Wrestling World. Along with the great WOW magazine contributing editor, Tony Yannuzzi, Tarryn turned me back into the star I was in 1992. It was one hell of a commute, Canada, to UWW headquarters in Korea, and back to my home in Ridgefield, CT. Anyway, after a number of gimmick changes and personal evaluations, I feel as if I'm comfortable in the role I have now. And thanks to my one best friend in all of wrestling, Mr. "Diamond" Jim Shaw, I feel I can shine as the one character I was born to play...me. Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but the only reason I got into wrestling, was because I couldn't survive the mean streets of Ridgefield. I was even kicked out of high school for causing an explosion in Psy-Tech class. Now, however, I've found my niche. I'll just continue to be the bad ass I was while growing up, and hopefully that'll lead me to another title reign down the line. I do appreciate this award, God bless you all. (The crowd breaks out in applause, but Payne suddenly cuts them off) Payne: There's one last thing I feel I want to address before I leave this podium tonight. I want to give a shout out to former UWW promoter, Tarryn Hoff. Now that his promation is closed, and T-Bone is busy with the magazine, Tarryn wrestles in Chicago for Windy City Pro Wrestling. He wrestles under the name of "Mystic". Anyway, I read a nasty rumor on WCPW's website, that my friend Tarryn was tragically killed in the ring, after a powerbomb spot went wrong. Long story short, he only suffered major injuries, and will be back in action in a few months. Tarryn, get well soon, buddy! (Payne makes a phony gun with his finger toward the camera, and leaves the podium with statuette in hand. The crowd breaks into applause) [The camera pans the crowd, and locates various I/W personalities like John Van Mann, Jim Shaw, RRJ, Hightower, Steve West, Hades and others] Voice Over: When we return, the awards for Manager of the Year, and Rookie of the Year!! The winner of this award exemplifies what a manager should be. A manager who takes charge of their stable, or single wrestler or tag team, and plays a notible role in guiding their charge, or charges to the top. The manager of the year is judged by their peers to have done thier job to the best possible capabilities. The nominees for Manager of the Year are... Iron Mike... [The crowd applaudes] Ina [The crowd applaude] and Heidi Leick [The crowd applaude again] And the Golden Turnbuckle for Manager of the Year goes to... Are you kidding me? After what I just said? Heidi Leick!! ::: Little Crazy By Fight Plays as Heidi Leick looks around, then staggers up from her table.. with a bottle of Cuervo 1800 in her hand she moves/staggers towards the podium after she realizes it was her name that was called.. :: Heidi Leick: Well, well , well, if it ain't ol AE handing out the cheapo awards this year, then I dunno who else it could be... ::hic::, what did I win again AE? AE: Heidi.. I think you should sit down, and let me get you something to.. Heidi Leick:AE.. that's a friggen long ass name for a damn award.. ::swigs the bottle :: want a shot AE?... :;smiles, giggles, staggers a bit:: AE: Heidi.. you won Manager of the year.. AE: Here.. ::cough:: take it.. ::wheeze:: Heidi Leick: And now for my acceptance speech... Screw you. Screw you all, each and every last one of you.. I dont need this award to prove I'm the bestest damn mamager.. I knew it already, and so did you... ::laughs:: I'm outta here.. Hey.. where's the nearest bar? :: walks off the stage as Little Crazy By Fight Plays :: [There is a pause as some attendants come out to check on Anthony Edwards. After 30 seconds or so, a man in his mid 20's, wearing a tuxedo steps up to the podium. The young man has blond hair, and blue eyes, and a serious look to him.] Man: Most of the veterans know me, for those who don't, my name is Wade Thompson, Vice-President of the IWF/WOW. [Polite applause] Wade Thompson: Thank you, but that was unneccessary. I'll take over this next segment while Mr. Edwards composes himself. The award for Rookie of the Year is up next, and here to present the award are Tricia Lane, and "Epic" Eric Travers. [The jazz quartet attempt to play "Epic" by Faith No More, but are stopped by Travers when Squeaky McQueen starts singing the rapped lyrics lounge lizard style. Travers and Lane reach the podium, Lane dressed in a dressier version of the gold dress she wears to ringside. Travers wears a black tux with gold bow tie, and cumberbund.] Eric Travers: Hey Thompson, where do you find these bands? [Thompson is shown making a money jesture with his hands, and titling his head in President Foster's direction] Eric Travers: [Chuckles] Oh! Well, this next award is almost as high an honour as you can receive. The Rookie of the Year award is a good predictor of future success. The winner of this award may be destined for super stardom, with the runner's up not far behind. Tricia Lane: The nominees for Rookie of the Year are... Djinn of Ernham... [mild applause] Bad Boy McCade [loud ovation] "Razor" Ron Jeremy [Another loud ovation] Eric Travers: And the Golden Turnbuckle for Rookie of the Year goes to... Tricia Lane: "Razor" Ron Jeremy!! [The Jazz octet does its best rendition of "Daterape" by Sublime as Razor Ron Jeremy stands up from the audience and dives into the aiselway so he can dance ska all the way to the stage. Holy Moly, he's actually wearing a nice black Christian Dior tuxedo! Instead of wearing Bootie on his head, he carries it between his arm and forearm like an aristocrat would hold a cane. As he ascends the staircase to the stage he throws Bootie out to the middle, runs up, and does a Mexican Hat Dance around it as everybody appluads. He stops to take the Golden Turnbuckle Award form Eric Travers with a handshake, and suprisingly Tricia Lane doesn't mind giving RRJ a little peck on the cheek. He walks up to the podium and is still panting from all the excitement.) Razor Ron Jeremy: Oh boy...This in incredible! I haven't felt so young in years. Gimmie a sec. to settle down here, OK. (Digs into his jacket pocket) I actaully have a list of people I'd like to thank here...In no particular order I wanna thank Perry "Death" Neptune and John "Destruction" Achillies for telling me about the IWF/WOW, Chris Jurkschat, Chad Ishikawa, Wade Thompson, Heidi Leick for letting me stare at her whenever she bent over to pick up something, Kyle Combs for giving me a great opening match here, and even though a majority of it's combatants aren't here tonight and it's up for best match of the year, All 5 guys in the 6-man elimination US National title match from Egos & Icons; and William Foster for being attentive and listening to my Ideas. I'd also like to send a special thanks out there to Mick Mann and Glass Joe for hitting me in the head really hard a year ago, because if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be here taking up everybodys useful time at the Golden Turnbuckle awards this year. (The audience gives a canned-laughter chuckle) And I... (The jazz octet begins to play the Golden Turnbuckle theme song trying to finally shut him up.) RRJ: Hey stop playing that crap, I'm not finished! I just wanna say that, being a 40-year old man, it's great to win the Rookie of the Year Award. I feel 10 whole years younger, Although for some reason I can't go to a wrestling federation without having to start from scratch. We have the best fans out there, but you guys should still remember us for our past accomplishments! Take those memories with you whenever you come to see us! The point is, there was another guy up for this award who has taken care of more business and accomplished more in his year-long wrestling career than I have in my 13 years in the business. Bad Boy McCade, If you will stand up please. (Bad Boy McCade stands up from the audience.) RRJ: I want to share this award with a Mr. Bad Boy McCade, for being one of my personal favorite rookies that I've seen in a long time. It's a shame you had to leave us so soon, bub. But I still wanna congradulate you on all you've accomplsihed here in the IWF/WOW...OK the conductor is waving that little stick at me so I think I'm supposed to leave now...SO I'M OFF!! Thank you all you've been great!!! (Razor Ron Jeremy picks up Bootie and stops a moment to pose a picture with the Golden Turnbuckle award. The jazz octet plays "Daterape" by Sublime again as Razor Ron Jeremy walks to the back with Eric Travers and Tricia Lane.) [The camera pans back to the podium where Anthony Edwards has returned.] Anthony Edwards: Up next is the Golden Turnbuckle for Match of the Year. Here tonight to announce the winner, is The Prophet!! (The Prophet and Choir-Master come out to the standard chorus of boos and jeers, except from the small group of "IC" marks. Both are dressed in stylish tuxedos, with the full white shirt-black tie setup. The Choir-Master is holding the envelope and "Match of the Year" trophy as the Prophet approaches the microphone.) TP: Well, well, well...it seems the same loophole that sucked me into the 'mystery partner' match a few months ago brings me here tonight. Thankfully, we still have enough stroke to decide which award we handed out - so instead of getting stuck with something lame, like "Rookie-of-the-year", we decided on "Match of the Year". It has the potential for some class, even if its an I/W match. (Prophet and Choir-master share a look and laugh to themselves.) TP: Anyways, there are 3 matches that were deemed worthy of "Match of the Year" contenders...granted, I don't see how as none of them were matches I competed it... (Cheers from the "IC" crowd.) TP: Actually, I'm not sure what the matches are...The powers that be sent me the videos of the matches, but I didn't bother to watch them... CM: Well, I did... TP: (shocked) Really? CM: Well, yeah...it was a slow night and South Park was a re-run, so i watched the videos. It killed a few minutes. TP: Well, you can tell us what the matches were. CM: The first was the 6-man US National Title match at Egos and Icons 2. TP: 6 guys fighting for that scrap of tin? Give me a break! CM: The second was the Independence Day Rumble at Egos and Icons 2. TP: Well, The original Rumble was the greatest ever fought...when I was robbed of a victory! Remember that? CM: It was always a conspiracy against the Inner Circle, Prophet. (More cheers from the "IC" section.) CM: The third nominee is the 4 way World Title match at End of the World 3. TP: Granted, the kids these days may think those were good matches, but they pale in comparison to the true wars we once fought...whos the winner? CM: You want the envelope? TP: (with a slight note of impatience) Just tell us who the winner is... CM: But, you gotta say it... TP: (more impatience) I could care less. CM: Can I say it, then? TP: (rolling his eyes and taking the envelope) Fine! CM: (with a big smile on his face) Can I have the envelope please? (Prophet shakes his head and hands the envelope over.) CM: And, the winner is...The Independece Day Rumble! TP: Let's go! (Prophet and the Choir-Master drop the envelope and trophy on the podium and leave the stage. Anthony Edwards steps up to the podium) Anthony Edwards: This award is accepted by me, on behalf of the 20 men who competed in the ID4 Rumble. [Applause from the crowd] Anthony Edwards: Stay tuned, still to come are Feud of the Year, Heel and Face of the Year, Tag Team of the Year, Wrestelr of the Year, and of course our Hall of Fame inductions. [The camera fades to the card for SE4, followed by some commercials] Summer Explosion 4 August 23rd, 1999 (8.23.99) RP's/Strats Due: Thursday, August 19th, 1999 (8.19.99) at 9:00pm EST LIVE- Vancouver, Britich Columbia, Canada, B.C. Around him sit several beautiful girls, when suddenly one of the Owners servants run up to him...] Servant: Umm... sir, VP Wade Thompson is requesting you to announce who the new Hall of Famers are. Chris J: What the hell? Do I have to do everything for this guy? Damnit, I remember when I was running that place, I swear he'd have me spoon feed him... he was always "do this, do that". Geez, and I WAS the President, not him. Servant: Umm... sir... Chris J: Did I say you could speak? Hell no. You know, there's a lot wrong with this guy. There's a reason why I didn't give the little prick the federation when I left... can you imagine him and Chad running the place? It'd fall a part overnight... damnit... Servant: SIR... Chris J: Shut up I tell ya. Damnit, I tell you, Chad was such a moron... Servant: [yelling] SIR! We're on the air... Chris J: Huh? We are? Servant: Yes... Chris J: Oh... umm.... first up, we have a former IWF/WOW World Heavyweight Champion, a former North American champion, and the man who made Derrick DaMann famous... AJ "BLACK ICE" STANSON! (Dead Souls by Nine Inch Nails begins to play as the camera shifts towards where AJ "Black Ice" Stanson and Nevada are sitting. He kisses Nevada on the cheek and slowly makes his way towards the podium where his plaque awaits. He nods to the crowd, shyly smiles and waves towards the upper level. He takes a pause and lets the cheers and applause continue for a while.) STANSON: Thank you. (cheers continue) STANSON: Thanks alot. (pauses and takes a deep breath) Wow! After all my years of wrestling it has finally come to this. I gotta say I have absolutely no regrets. When I called it quits last year, I hesitated for a long time. Wrestling has always been my life...I breath the sport and I had many sleepless nights trying to make up my mind. I knew I still had it and my God I know I still got it today. It's obvious I could still be on top right now and I could beat all of these new up and comers...no offense but when you got it...you got it! (Crowd cheers loudly...STANSON! STANSON!) STANSON: It wasn't an age thing...at 26...but it was more of an opportunity thing. I am young and I still felt that I had so much to do still. Wrestling will always be in me, and I will always grasp a piece of it wherever I go. So no..you haven't quite gotten rid of me yet. (Crowd approves) STANSON: First of all...okay now I'll start the good stuff...I have to give a big shout out to the guys who figured out how to give me a hell of a time in and out of the ring. Derrick DaMann, brother, rest in peace...you were the only guy in all my years of pro wrestling that finally figured out how my mind works and knew how to push the right buttons. To that, I toast you tonight because by gosh you were a tough son of a bitch and today is the only day I'll ever admit that so listen good up there. If there was room for two number ones, I'll be the first one to say it: AJ STANSON and DERRICK DAMANN! (Crowd cheers wildly!!) STANSON: Angel of Death, Eric Travers, Down Under Demon....we had our good days and we had our bad days, to you I toast for showing me the different shades of the mind and the difference between the face and the heel. There is no difference...it is all in the ways of knowing your limits and the ones of your opponent. You were all strange in some way or another...but uh...nontheless a hell of a challenge to figure out. STANSON: To my boys, all the guys who were ever members of the greatest stable in wrestling history, POWER ALLIANCE...Roadkill Thranton, Desert Scorpion, Cooper, and all the rest! The day me and Damon created ths PA, we knew we had a gold mine under our feet and we always will live up to the name! You were the best people to ever work with! Our days of glory will forever go on...and dammit, we will always remember in our minds all the SHIT we caused the other guys! AND THAT....is what willl bring a smile to my face on those sad, rainy days. (laughs) INNER CIRCLE, you were always the losers, and it'll always stand that way in the books! You boys were shittin' your pants the minute the PA made it official. There is never any room for two number ones, we both knew it and my God, PA made sure they were the only ones. STANSON: Prophet big guy...it seems out quarrels will always go on. Your stubborn poor excuse for a brain of yours can't seem to understand that I was always the master of the mind games...only your prep boy DaMann ever even came close to me! This game will never end, but I gotta give you the respect you deserve. STANSON: Idol...Idol...Idol....you damn son of a bitch! I gotta say...I love ya man! You brought me all the way to the edge and back, we had some good times, and I gotta say, and everyone here knows it, we could always put on a hell of a feud! You pissed me off and I pissed you off right back. Well to that I toast YOU tonight, and may you burn in hell. (Idol marks boo, crowd cheers) STANSON: Kidding kidding! IDOL, you are the man, and I am proud to say that I got to wrestle in the same era as you. Keep it real kid. STANSON: Finally, to Chris J, Chad, Wade, and all the big guys of this corp. You guys gave me the opportunity to shine my way to the top. I took that chance and I think I can honestly say I succeeded. Thanks a lot guys, I had a blast, it's been great. I was here from the very beginning, and I don't regret one single day. STANSON: To all the guys who are still in there...realize that IWF...and IWF/WOW have been around for a hell of a long time. This fed is strictly but the best and only takes the best of the best so stand proud and stand up to those requirements. You are the elite and the world is watching....and as long as I'll be watching it, you boys better give me something exciting to tune in to every week! (Crowd cheers loudly) STANSON: Last but not least...beautiful NEVADA! (Whistles and cheers as the camera focuses on Nevada sitting down, smiling and waving to Stanson) STANSON: You've been my best friend since I can even remember. For everything we've been through....the DaMann fisacos, the Destiny fiasco, the Inner Cirle vs Pain Inc. vs. PA fiascos...you were always there right by my side and for that, I thank you and I share this wonderful award with you. (raises the trophy) My career would've been impossible without you and you are my shining star. Thank you. STANSON: The fans.....(CROWD GOES PSYCHO!!) You are the backbones of this federation. Whether you were with me during my face times and/or my heel times...it doesn't matter. What matters is that you guys tuned in every week and were loyal to me and this federation. I praise you all, thank you and by God, help me say this one, one last time.... Crowd: LIVE BY IT....OR DIE FROM IT BABY.... STANSON: Cause in the end....Victims aren't we all!?!?! (Dead Souls starts again as Stanson raises his plaque an bows to the crowd one last time) Chris J: Next up, we have another former IWF/WOW World Champion, only he did it two times.. two times... two times... here is the man who I made famous, the master of the Inner Circle, the PROPHET!! (As their names are announced, the Prophet and Choir-Master make their way to the podium, to thunderous applause and a standing ovation. They look out at the audience and seem a little less arrogant than before as they prepare to speak.) TP: Well, who ever thought things would come to this? So many years have passed, so many memories and so much water has passed under the bridge... I think back to the beginnings; back when Chad was president, back when WoW was working out of school gyms and bingo halls, back when we were out there, night after night, busting our asses for the few fans that came out to watch us. I remember guys like Joe Mills, Joe Mountain, the Carolina Mauler, Maxwell Chamberlain, Spectacular Pookster...the battles we fought, the wars we waged. Not only for the fans, but for ourselves. I remember a brash, spolied rich kid by the name of DaMann; who took anything he wanted, and he wanted it all. I remember his five words that changed the history of wrestling as we knew it..."Prophet, I like your style." No one could have guessed how such a meeting of the minds would change the course of history. I remember being a member of the elite Inner Circle, of ruling WoW with an iron fist. We showed no mercy and took no prisoners. We established the ground rules by coining the term "Giga-beating" and all quaked in fear, as they knew how such a beating could shorten a career. Those were the days... But, as we have seen, the only constant in life is change. After the merger, things changed and nothing was the way it used to be. The talk of 'The Big Four', the running battles with the Power Alliance, the physical clashes in the ring and in the ego clashes in the boardroom...it wasnt the same. Finally, as Derrick shied away from the spotlight, as his illness became more and more apparent, part of me was dying as well. Things weren't the same here and after he left us, there was nothing left for me either. The burn, the desire to continue was gone. All I wanted were the memories of the good times and a chance to move on to other things. So, it is in the spirit of those times, the glory days that I accept this honour. Let it be a reminder to the new kids, the up and comers, of just how good things can be. They have mighty big shoes to fill. To anyone who dares to carry the I/W banner, I wish them the best of luck. They'll need it. Thank you and good night. [The camera comes back to Chris J, who is talking to the ladies, and not realizing that he's back on the air.] Chris J: You know... I made him and the Inner Circle famous. Mike B.. Sirvant: SIR! We're on the air again... Chris J: We are? Oh, right. Next up we have who maybe one of the most deserving on the spot, Desert Scorpion... [Vice-President Thompson steps up to the podium.] Wade Thompson: If the arrogant prick would stop ignoring his messages, he'd know that Desert Scorpion could not make it tonight. Desert Scorpion asked that I relay a message. He thanks you all for the distinguished honour of being named to the I/W Hall of Fame, and apoligizes that he was unable to make it this evening. Chris J: Next up we've got the biggest ass-kisser of all time... the greatest IWF/WOW Intercontinential champion of all time, and a former IWF/WOW World Heavyweight Champion... the IDOL!! [Everyone in attendance slowly rise to their feet and applaude the IWF/WoW legend, The Idol, by clapping. After a few moments, someone within the attendance begins to move towards the stage. This man dressed in a tuxedo is unknown to most of the people in attendance. With his golden blonde hair, he walks to the stage confronting VP Thompson Wade Thompson: Wait! This Hall of Fame award is for the Idol! Get off this stage, now! [The man ignores Thompson's request.] Wade Thompson: What don't you UNDERSTAND!? Man: Thank you. Wade Thompson: WAIT!? WHAT!? BUT, YOU'RE ... NO WAY! HOW CAN IT BE!? [Thompson walks off to the side shocked. The man grins.] Man: Hello? Hel - lo? [He hits the microphone] Does thing even work? [The blonde continued.] Man: Okay, I guess I'm good to go. I, The Idol ac -- [Suddenly a murmur comes from the crowd. Could it be true? The brown hair legend ... now blonde!?] Idol: Heh. A guy bleaches his hair, and everybody goes nuts. Anyways as I was saying ... I, The Idol, have been awarded with the prize and glory of the IWF/WoW, being inducted into the IWF/WoW Hall of Fame. Damn, memories come back. Starting with January 4th, 1998 where I made my deubt. Yup, this cocky rookie beat the Red Slayer, and then my IWF/WoW career flew by. In 3 months, I beat Dougy Sullivan for the Intercontinental title. A title I held for like 6 months. That was great, then World Champion. It was all pretty cool. Oh - okay. Enough of this boring talk. No cares about me, right? Let's stop talking about the boring background info about me. Let's get to the real Idol that we remember. The young, cocky, and exciting superstar in the IWF/WoW! Only two words can describe me when I wrestled: name-caller. Heh. Have I lost that childish method of interviewing ... NOT ONE BIT! [Idol laughs.] Idol: Those days were the best, but that was a long time ago. I should really thank everyone who helped me up there. First off, the man I always dreamed about facing, but when I came into the fed, he left. Derrick DaMann. Thank you for showing me how to "run" the IWF/WoW. Next, I would like to thank my hated foe. A man who I never faced once in the ring, The Prophet. A man I loved to hate. Prophet, thank you for being there. Next a very big thank you to my most hated foe that I met in the ring, and my best friend that I ever tagged with. AJ "Black Ice" Stanson. A man who I fought over several months, and then I tagged with for several months. My best friend from the IWF/WoW, I'll miss you, AJ. [Idol raises his arm and gives the PA sign] PA for ever! I also would like to thank the Trifecta, even though they are no longer here. Bad Boy McCade and Alex Martinez for being great tag team partners. And lastly, I would like to thank Cooper Concrete, Ian Jennings, Johnny Skiles, Killing Machines (I/P vs KM, yay! :)), and anyone else who's behind I kicked to get to the top. Thank you! [The crowd doesn't excatly agree with the Idol on his last set of comments.] Idol: My career was one of the best, and I loved every minute of it until now. I feel as if my career should never end in the IWF/WoW. I'm going to miss the everything from the front office to the lonely ring sweepers. [Everyone is about to cry.] Idol: Unfortunately, I have some sad news to all of you in the IWF/WoW. [Idol lowers his head in shame] I have been wanting to do this for some time, and now I have finally got the guts to do it. After talking to many officals about this, the IWF/WoW has allowed me to do this. To do this, I must have to perform the ultimate sin. I MUST refuse this honor of being inducted into the IWF/WoW Hall of Fame! [Everyone is shocked! Their jaws drop open.] Idol: I know, I know. Only an idiot would do this, but it must be done. To add onto the sorrow, this tuxedo will have to be put away for a while now. This tux looks real good on me and everything. I hate to put it in the closet for a whi -- oh - yeah! I almost forgot. The OTHER part of not accepting this honor. No, I am not running for president, but something a tad different. With the permission of the IWF/WoW ... Your Idol, The Idol ... ... Has one last thing to tell his favorite Idolizers of Canada ... I ' M B A C K ! ! ! ! [Everyone jumps to their feet in happiness! They all are excited to see the return of this IWF/WoW Legend.] That's right! Your Idol, The Idol has come back to the IWF/WoW! He has picked up his boots for the first time since WrestleFest III! I have refused the honor of being in the Hall of Fame and being stuck in some old age home in Century Village with the likes of "I'm freshly squeezed" OJ "Not Homer" Simpson or Johnny Skittles. Nope, nope. Your Idol is back and better. And be prepared to see a bang from me, if you know what I mean. And let me say this for the first time since last year ... 'Cause I'm Buff, Tough, and Good Lookin'!!! [The blonde haired Idol with a huge smile on him walks back towards his feet. Shaking several of the current IWF/WoW wrestlers hands. Before sitting down, The Idol hugs his long time PA friend AJ Stanson, and walks over to former PA member Cooper Concrete and shakes his hand. The Idol finally finds his way back to his seat.] Chris J: Next is one of the greatest, and most popular wrestlers to ever grace the IWF/WOW's ring. Former IC Champion, and former World Champion, Christopher Stonebreaker!!! [Thompson walks back to the podium] Wade Thompson: Unfortunately, we were unable to contact Chris Stonebreaker, but hopefully we will be able to track him down soon, to accept his induction. Chris J: Yes, we do have some tag teams as well... first up, are the former World Tag Team Champions, the KILLING MACHINES! [Thompson looks up at the screen, and mouths something.] Wade Thompson: The Killing Machines were unable to attend this evening, but they would like to extend their gratitude at receiving this honour. Chris J: Finally, we've got one of the greatest tag team duos of all time, here are the DYNAMIC DUO!!! [Thompson shakes his head] Wade Thompson: First off, turn that thing off. I'm sick of looking at him. Damn guy has got some nerve saying all those things about me. [Thompson composes himself] Wade Thompson: The Dynamic Duo declined their induction late this past week, due to some extenuating circumstances. Rest assured that their place in the IWF/WOW Hall of Fame will be there, if they ever decide to accept it. Wade Thompson: Since I'm up here, let's hand out Feud of the Year. Wade Thompson: All three nominees for this award were very deserving. Every feud was hard fought, and high stakes. They thrilled us all with their ferocious intensity, and drama. The nominees for Feud of the Year are... The West Coast Connection vs Badd Attitude [Crowd pop] Hades vs Robert d'Artois [Another Crowd pop] and Bad Boy McCade vs "Profesor" Steve West [Yet another crowd pop] Wade Thompson: And the Golden Turnbuckle goes to... Hades vs Robert d'Artois!!! [Hades stands up from his table and approaches the podium. He grabs his Golden Turnbuckle Award and leans into the mic, shaking his head.] HADES: Thanx, but why in god's name should I have to have to share this award with that worthless lump of crap, Robert d'Artois. Everyone knows that I carried that damn feud! Robert d'Artois has about as much charisma as Kevin Kelly's denim jacket! But me?? Hell, I could feud with this microphone right now and probably put it over easier than I could to d'Artois! HADES: All I know, is that Bobby D, Hades had better be the first name that you THANK for getting you this little statue for your mantle. Because without me, kid, no one would have paid any attention to the feud in the first place! [Hades begins leaving the podium, but stops and backtracks back to the mic...] HADES: Oh, and by the way, who exactly WON that feud anyhow?? [Hades smirks] HADES: That's what I thought. d'Artois doesn't even deserve one of these little statues. I'll give him a kick in the jaw instead..... that he does deserve! [Hades gives another broad smile...] HADES: But you know what? Forget it! Robbie, come on up and get your little gold man......lord knows it's probably about the only bit of fame that you'll ever again receive in your DEAD career! Wade Thompson: Robert d'Artois was unable to join us this evening... [Hades grabs the second trophy from Thompson] HADES: So I'll accept it on his behalf!! [Hades begins laughing maniacally as he walks off stage.] [Anthony Edwards returns to the podium as Thompson throws his hands in the air and walks off the stage] Anthony Edwards: To present our next award for the evening, Best Heel of the Year,we have none other than a former US National Champion and the current Intercontinental Champion. Accompanied by Bootie, please welcome Rookie of the Year RAZOR RON JEREMY!! (The jazz octet plays "Daterape" by Sublime as Razor Ron Jeremy walks out through the curtain with a little white envelope enclosing the winner of the Best Heel award. He's still wearing his Christian Dior tuxedo and amazingly hasn't gotten any chocolate stains on it yet. He sets Bootie on top of the podium and clears his throat as he tries to look into the teleprompter.) Razor Ron Jeremy: Oh crap, I left my glasses by the teriyaki chicken samples! (squinting and reading it straight) "Razor Ron Jeremy, Wow It's great to be here at the 1999 Golden Turnbuckle Awards. Look at the green boot. Don't you think so, Bootie? Why aren't you answering me, Bootie? Throw the boot onto the floor and step on it. There Bootie, That will teach you to ignore the IC Champion when he's talking to you. Begin feeling remorse. I'm sorry Bootie, I shouldn't have done that to you. Show the boot to the audience. You are only made of cheap imitation leather. Pick up the green boot and give it a hug and put it on your head. Be careful Bootie, I don't want you to mess up my hair that I actually combed today."...Hey man, why did you shut the teleprompter off? How am I supposed to read it now? It's hard enough without my glasses!...OK fine, I'll improvise! (Balances his weight on the podium.) RRJ: I'm presenting the Best Heel award this year. (Takes off his shoes, and keeps talking while taking off his socks.) Deciding the nominees were tough this year, considering that we had DOUBLE the amount of heels to choose from. But nonetheless we have narrowed it down to 3 nominees who display the best ruggedness, odor, and personality to make everyone around you HATE YOUR GUTS!! The first nominee is Left Heel. (picks up his left foot and shows it to the audience. Crickets chirping) Next we have Right Heel. (Does the same with his right foot and gets the same reaction) and finally we have Bootie's Heel. (Jim Shaw applauds. Edwards walks back to the podium and whispers into Razor Ron Jeremy's ear.) RRJ: Oh THOSE heels! Ha! How could I be so...(sudden worry) Now NOBODY here saw my feet. You all got that?! GOOD! The REAL Best Heel nominees are: Hades... Robert Dartoys...(Edwards whispers into his ear again) Oh 'scuse me, d'Artois!... And "Legacy" Johnny Skiles... RRJ: And the winner is...(Opens up the white envelope and pulls out the winner's name) McGreggor Gas Company? What the...Oh wait, this is my gas bill! Oops! I think the real one is in here somewhere. (People begin the get antsy and boo. Payne throws a tomato on stage. RRJ quickly gets the real envelope and pulls out the winner's name finally.) RRJ: The winner is HADES!! [Hades gets a shocked look on his face as he rises from his table and walks up to the stage. He slowly grabs the microphone and begins talking in disbelief] HADES: Heel of the Year?? You mean.......you all don't like me?? [A person in the audience can be heard yelling, "You Suck!!" Hades gets angry and points at the person who is off camera.] HADES: Shut the hell up, Hightower! Don't make me call your parole officer. [Hades composes himself and begins speaking again.] HADES: Well, what can I say?? You all hate me! It's understandable though. You all just can't understand how in the hell I can be so damn good! And you get jealous of me. Jealous because the whole world, including each and every one of you insignificant scum......fears me! And just like that little green bastard from Star Trek says.......fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate! So, you see, it all comes full circle. HADES: Now should I thank you for giving me the honor of having this award?? You know what? No, I damn well shouldn't. Because not a one of you worthless pieces of crap contributed one thing to get me to where I am. All I get is criticism after criticism at the office. Everyone hates me! And now you give me a damn award to tell me that I'm not liked?? Yeah, thanx a f***ing lot! HADES: The fact of the matter is, whether you want to admit it or not, you just can't get enough of me! And deep down in the hearts of each and everyone one of you sitting in front of me, and each and everyone one of you couch potato, armchair quarterbacks at home.......you all know that the only reason that you're here today, the only reason that you're tuning in.....is not to see who in the hell wins the "so and so" award! You're all here to see ME! [A loud jeering starts to emanate from the audience.] HADES: Deny it all you want, but you know it to be true. I am the God of Wrestling, and you can hate on all you want, haters.....but it isn't gonna change a damn thing! Now somebody get me a damn drink! [Hades notices President Foster shooting him a glare at that last comment...] HADES: Um....a drink of water that is... [Hades gulps, and awkwardly shuffles himself off-stage.] [The camera pans to Anthony Edwards who is standing at the podium.] Anthony Edwards: Ladies and gentlemen here to present the award for Face of the Year....please welcome Amy and the former IWF/WOW North American Hightower.] [The fellow wrestlers in the room aplaude for Hightower as Hightower and Amy get up and make their way to the podium, arm in arm. While they are making their way to the podium the screen slptis and on one side it sowhs Hightower and Amy, and the other side changes from Steve West, Cooper Concrete, and Hades. The screen finally swictehs back to normal as Amy and Hightower get to the podium, and Hightower shakes hands with Edwards, and Amy gives him a kiss on the cheek as he steps back out of view.] Hightower: Face of The Year.....meant to be given to the wrestler who exposes the most 'good guy' qualities about himself. [Amy looks up at Hightower with a devilish smile.] Amy: Which explains why you weren't nominated for this award! [The crowd laughs as Hightower slowly looks down at Amy, giving her a smile but a look as well.] Amy: Now a face is generally the good guy.....the wrestler who is loved by all......and who usually does the right thing. Now there are three nominee's for Face of The Year this year. Hightower: The first nominee.....a man who is a legand is his own right, a man who I have never faced in the squared circle, which is probably good because knowing my luck i would have lost....[Hightower briefly pauses while the audience chuckles.]....he used to be known as the AoD...... "E P I C" E R I C T R A V E R S ! ! ! [The camera pans over to Eric Travers who nods and smiles, while Heather pats him on the arm, and the audince aplaudes for Eric Travers.] Hightower: The next nominee is also a legand in his own right, probably the longest lasting wrestling in the IWF/WOW, he is a former US National Champion, he is a former North American Champion, and he is a former Intercontinental Champion. I have faced him in the ring before, and let me tell you he is one of the toughest opponents i have ever faced in the ring. And he will be the special guest referee in the Main Event Match at Summer Explosion..... "P R O F E S S O R" S T E V E W E S T ! ! ! [The camera pans over to West as the crowd gives him aplause, and Steve West looks up at Hightower but nods at him.] Amy: Now for the finally nominee in this category. He has been fighting in this federation for a long time himself, and with credits to his name like being a top rank member of The Power Alliance, also The Peacekeepers Of Wrestling, he has risen to the top of the ranks, and he is the current IWF/WOW World Heavyweight Champion..... C O O P E R C O N C R E T E ! ! ! [The crowd aplaudes once again as the camera pans over to Cooper Concrete and he smiles and looks over at Kelly James.] Hightower: Now all three of these men deserve to win this award.... Amy:.....but unfortunatly only one of them can win this award. Hightower: You want to do the honours??? Amy: I would be glad to. And the Golden Turnbuckle Award for Face of the Year goes to..... [Amy opens up the envelope.] " E P I C " E R I C T R A V E R S ! ! ! [The crowd cheers as Travers and Heather get up and wave to theroom, and then make their way up to the podium. Amy and Heather greet each other first with a friendly handshake, then Amy gives Travers a hiug and a kiss on the cheek, as well as Heather does the same to Hightower. Then Hightower and Travers are standing face to face and just looking at each other, then Travers flashes a million dollar smile and extends his hand out to Hightower, and the two shake hands and brielfy hug, and then Travers takes the podium.] Eric Travers: Before I explain why my sister Tricia is not up here with me, and my wife Heather is, I'd just like to say thank you to all of the fans for voting me Face of the Year. [Crowd cheer, and an AoD chant starts up.] Eric Travers: I played both sides of the fence over the last 3 years, at one point I did it all at the same time. But I have to admit, that hearing the crowd explode every time I entered the arena, brought chills to my spine. It's a feeling I never want to forget. This game is all about the fans, cause without all of you, this wouldn't be possible. [The AoD chant gets louder] Eric Travers: Without you fans, I never would have lasted 90 minutes in a forty man ID4 Rumble to win the IWF/WOW World Title. I wouldn't have had the gaul to try and take on the entire Inner Circle by myself. It has been a great run, over the last three years, and this feels like the perfect culmination to my time here. [The chant dies out as the crowd start to listen attentively.] Eric Travers: As I accept this award for Face of the Year, I do so with a heavy heart. You know I haven't been around lately, and there is a reason. I have made a decision, and just watching the show here tonight, has really cemented this decision for me. [The crowd start to murmer.] Eric Travers: I have sat here tonight, and I've seen friends and foes alike, talk about moving on, and ending their time here. It really is a new era in the IWF/WOW, there has been so much changeover in the last couple of months. I don't recognize the place anymore. [There are shouts from those in attendance of "Don't do it", and "Please Stay".] Eric Travers: This was a hard decision for me, but I have made it, and it is final. Eric Travers will no longer compete in the IWF/WOW. [The crowd boo, not at Travers, but at his decision. Travers looks around, and then cracks a smile. Heather starts to giggle, but suppresses it.] Eric Travers: Trish is going to go to University, and I think that Eric Travers is best suited somewhere else. HOWEVER!!!... [Travers pauses, and smiles as the crowd waits in anticipation of what he'll say.] Eric Travers: I see all these young guys coming in, and they have no idea what the IWF/WOW is all about. Very few respect the IWF/WOW, and what it has stood for for the last three years, and only one man can show them... [Travers walks over to the Squeaky McQueen Octet. Squeaky nods his head and Travers returns to the podium.] Eric Travers: Squeaky, hit it. [A dude with a triangle (the musical intrument) hits a single beat. The crowd murmer.. until the triangle is struck again... then a third time... then finally a fourth before the octet break into a jazzed up version of "Hell's Bells" by AC/DC. The fans in attendance go nuts.] Eric Travers: Eric Travers may be going away, BUT THE A...O...D... IS BACK BABY!!!! [The crowd go nuts as Travers reaches into his jacket pocket, and pulls out his AoD mask and puts it on. AoD lifts the face of the Year Trophy and raises it high over his head] [The scene fades to commercials following an ad for SE4] Summer Explosion 4 August 23rd, 1999 (8.23.99) RP's/Strats Due: Thursday, August 19th, 1999 (8.19.99) at 9:00pm EST LIVE- Vancouver, Britich Columbia, Canada, B.C. (Dead Souls by Nine Inch Nails begins to play as AJ "Black Ice" Stanson and Nevada walk out on stage. Stanson is dressed in a black Versace suit and his short hair is gel and spicked up a little on the front. Looking marvelous at his arm is Nevada dressed in a pale pink floor lenght dress with spagetthi straps. Her shoulder lenght dark brown hair has been put half up and in waves. They step to the podium as the audience cheers loudly) STANSON: Thank you. (pauses and smirks, waves) Of the many great awards being presented tonight, this one sure as hell qualifies as one of the most prestigious. NEVADA: Day after day these guys step into the ring and do their job only not alone, but as a permanent team. STANSON: They are the tag teams of the IWF/WOW and the best of the best. Throughout the year, these three teams have in one way or another showed why they deserve to have their names inscripted in the trophy for Tag Team of the Year. NEVADA: Here are this year's nominees... (A Clip begins to play showing off the three teams in action as Stanson speaks) Death and Destruction..... The West Coast Connection and The Killing Machines NEVADA: And the winners are....(starts to open the enveloppe as the crowd cheers and yells their favorite's names) STANSON: Death and Destruction!!!! [Edwards walks over to the podium and says something to Stanson, who starts laughing] STANSON: Apparantly Death and Detsruction are banned from appearing together at IWF/WOW functions, so cannot be here to accept the award. I'll accept it on their behalf. Anthony Edwards: Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the big one! It's time to find out who is this year's IWFWOW Wrestler of the Year!!! (crowd cheers and applauds.) To present our final award tonight, I'd like to introduce ...escorted by his long-time manager, Kelly James, here is the IWFWOW World Champion.... COOPER CONCRETE!!!! ("Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen is played over the PA system, and the popular wrestling duo gets a nice round of applause. Cooper Concrete wears a classic black and white tuxedo, and the IWFWOW World Title belt is worn as his cumberbun. He also wears his shades but no hardhat tonight. Kelly James has her hair up in a bun and is wearing a knock-out tight red dress. She follows closely behind Cooper carrying the Golden Turnbuckle for 'Wrestler of the Year' and an envelope. They approach the podium and shake hands with Anthony Edwards.) Cooper Concrete: All 3 of tonight's nominees, have made huge comebacks in the past year. And each of them made a huge impact on the federation. All 3 are former World Title holders...and they have been an integral part of the entertainment you all see each week. Ladies and gentlemen...it's my pleasure to announce the nominees for the 1999 IWFWOW Wrestler of the Year. (Canon in in D Major by Beethoven is played over the PA.Video footage of D'Artois is seen over the JumboTron screens.) LORD ROBERT D'ARTOIS After seeking refuge in the earlier part of the year, Lord Robert returned with the entourage known as the Total Apocalypse, and swiftly captured his first IWFWOW World Title. The always arrogant and cocky Lord, has always been on top of his game. ("Epic" by Faith No More is played over the PA. Vignettes of Travers is seen.) "EPIC" ERIC TRAVERS Perhaps the most determined man to ever hit the squared circle..He always gave his all when the bell rang. He came close many times this past year to capture the World Title, but the former Angel of Death, was left searching for his next World Title reign. What a ride he gave to all his competitors. ("Push It" by Garbage is played over the PA, and Hades' video clips are seen.) HADES The man who led the Modern Apocalypse into it's destruction, a successful campaign to earn his shot at the World Title, and a guy who has been a royal pain in the neck to yours truly...really has to be given some credit for being the player he truly is... (On the JumboTron there are live shots of all 3 men in attendance, and in big lettering on the screen - "1999 IWFWOW Wrestler of the Year". Kelly James pulls out the envelope and hands it to Cooper...) And the 1999 IWFWOW Wrestler of the Year is..... (Cooper Concrete opens the envelope.) (pauses....) HADES! [Hades stands up from his seat to the applause of the crowd. He stands still for a few seconds, gazing around at all of his wrestling peers who applaud him. A smile crosses his face and he slowly makes his way up to the podium. He pauses at the podium. He looks down at his Wrestler of the Year Golden Turnbuckle Award and looks back up at the crowd with a smile on his face.] HADES: I can honestly say that 2 years ago right now, I did not think that I'd see the day that I'd be standing in front of you all with a Golden Turnbuckle Award for the best wrestler in the IWF/WOW. And I'd like to thank you all right now for voting me into this spot. And I'd also like to take this opportunity to make an unfortunate announcement to the entire e-wrestling community. And I'm going to need to get "out of character" for this.... [Hades pauses and takes a deep breath, clutching his trophy.] HADES: I'd like to officially announce that my triangle match with Cooper Concrete and Hightower at Summer Explosion 4 is going to be my final match in my e-wrestling career. [The crowd gasps.] HADES: There are many reasons for this, which some of you may know already. And I'll get even more out of character now to explain this. I know some of you know me out of character, but for those of you that don't, my name's Jon Herrmann. And as some of you know, as of May of this year, I got a new job that has been absolutely killing me with hours. That would explain my RP's, or lack thereof, the last month or so. I am constantly working, and I attempt to have a decent social life as well, plus do some e-wrestling now and then too. The problem is, starting this Monday, I go back to school. And this semester, I am taking more credits than I normally take, plus I'll be only dropping one shift a week at work. So, to make a long story short, time constraints are only going to get worse and worse for me over the next few months. HADES: I've always been the most critical person of my own work as far as e-wrestling goes. And _I_ haven't been happy with my performance as of late in this league. And knowing that I'm only going to get worse in the next few months with school, I decided to quit while I was ahead. To quit while I was still on top, before I kill Hades's reputation any more than I have already by not RPing him as often as I should be. So, that's what brings me to today, and I couldn't think of a better way for me to go out.... HADES: I've been in e-wrestling, and doing it constantly, without a break, since January of 1997. And in all that time, I can honestly say that the IWF/WOW has probably been the most competitive federation that I've ever been in. It was the toughest for me to get a foothold in. I remember when I first came here in April of 97, I was amazed. Every RPer in this fed was main event caliber. Everyone was good. And while in other feds I was in, it took me little time to rise to the top. It took me a year and a half to win my first piece of gold here in the IWF/WOW, when I won the US National title. And winning that belt was one of my best moments of my career. I later got the North American, and finally, something I thought would never happen.....I got the World title of this league. The one World title in this sport that I had been relentlessly after for so long. That day was the crowning moment of my e-wrestling career in my eyes......that is, until today...... HADES: The Golden Turnbuckle awards. I remember I didn't even get considered for a nomination in these things last year or the year before :-) And here I am, not only nominated, but winning the Wrestler of the Year award. I got voted for this award by a lot of the same people that have been in this league with me from my start, and a lot of you who know me from elsewhere as well. And I'm really happy that my work gets read, noticed, and is able to entertain so many of you. It makes it seem worthwhile to me, and getting voted for this by all of you is the icing on the cake of my career.... [Hades pauses again until a few applause die down.] HADES: I'd like to take this opportunity to thank a few people for getting me to this point, and helping me to have a lot of fun in this sport the last 2 years and 9 months. These are in no particular order, and I know that I'm going to forget a few people, and I apologize right now if I do. I'd like to thank Derek Kline, aka Jeremy Thranton. He ran the first fed that I was ever in, the IWCW, and opened the doors for my career. He helped me with my 1st RP, which I had no clue how to even do :-) And he gave me a lot of great feuds over the past few years as well. Chris DiNapoli and Dave Offord, who some of you know better as "MeatMachine" Mike Marconi and Dark Bishop. These two are my boys in real life, as well as in e-wrestling. And what can I say about my fellow founders of the HOA, the best stable in this sport? We've pulled off some of the best (yet most offensive) angles in the history of this sport. Without you two, I wouldn't be where I am. Many may argue that I got you two over, but Hades would never have been as over as he was in a lot of league if it wasn't for the HOA. Frank Starz. All of you know him better as the handler of Death & Destruction and the "Diamond Girl" Heidi Leick. Frank gave me my first big push in this sport, in his fed, the EFW, who I know MANY of you are familiar with. He gave me my first World title as well. And Frank has worked with me on countless angles since then, including here in the IWF/WOW. Frank is also one of the only people that's been with me since day one in the e-wrestling scene, and I still talk to. And there is no question in my mind that the EFW opened a lot of doors for me. I got a lot of recruiting offers because of my performance in that league... Which brings me to Sensuous Samantha Bevins, one of the people that recruited me from the EFW to join her fed, the ASW. Myself, along with the HOA has some of our greatest angles in the ASW. The fed was a lot of fun. Samantha, I'd like to thank you for letting us get away with some really tasteless and offensive shit :-) And for putting up with all of our crap, and all of the complaints that we caused from other members of the league :-) You really let me basically do whatever the hell I wanted in that league, and I had a lot of fun with it... The whole WWO crew (Erin's WWO, never got the chance to go to Mark's). Although I only really had a cup of coffee with this league, I had a lot angles with these guys elsewhere. Erin, I'll apologize for you being the brunt of some of our tasteless jokes. I'm glad you have a sense of humor. :-) Mike, one of the best RPers I've been up against, keep up the good work... Rye aka Vincent Bannister AND Ray aka Robert d'Artois. I will admit that the Modern Apocalypse is just what Hades need to get over in the IWF/WOW. And you two are responsible for recruiting me at the perfect time. I owe you for a lot of my success in this league. We've had some good feuds, and some good angles together. Thanx guys... Razi Mahmood aka Johnny Skiles. When the rest of the MA jumped ship, you were the only one to stick it out with me and make that stable work. Too bad we never got to do the "reunion" :-) Tom aka Magnus Colby. Sorry I never got the chance to join UEW, Tom. Who knows what the future holds though? Thanks for sticking with the MA as well..... Roosevelt Cooper aka The Knick Man. This was one of Hades's all-time greatest feuds. I really wish Knick would have stayed in the I/W a little longer than he did so we could have done another one here. I REALLY have to thank you Roosevelt for having a sense of humor! _I_ would have hated me if I was you :-) HOA members of the past. The HOA really was a huge part of my career, and everyone who's ever been a part of that stable deseves recognition. Dark Bishop, Mike Marconi, Jeremy Thranton, Killboy Powerhead, Vik Avatar, "Sensational" Frankie Starz, Tornado, Andru Edwards, Roman, and Chris Wrigley. The whole UCWF crew. You guys are probably some of the most fun-loving handlers that I've come across. That fed was always a good-time, not quite as many egos (USUALLY) as other feds. Lightning, Jasy, GB, Vik, Palmer, Dreamer, Robert Ashe, Sandstrom, AJ, and so on and so forth. Once again, sorry if I forget someone. Nothing personal. Chris Jurkschat and Chad Ishikawa......why in the hell did it take you so damn long to give me a push?? :-) Just kidding! I really felt I worked my ass off and earned the push I got in the I/W. It made it that much better when i finally got to the top. Thanx for everything. President Foster. Thanks for being patient with me the last couple months. I really wish I could have put more work into the league, but I couldn't get the time. I hope all goes well with the fed from here on out..... And lastly to all of the handlers that I've worked with or against over the past two years. Without you guys, Hades would have been a boring character. I'll name a few who I haven't mentioned already. Derrick DaMann, AJ Stanson, Eric Travers, Cooper Concrete, Jedah, Bad Boy McCade, Idol, Steve West, Brandon Matthews, Alex Martinez, Troy Majors, Gregory Brians, and so on and so forth. HADES: I hope that I touched all bases in this speech. Anyone that I may have forgotten, I apologize. It's been a long 2 and 3/4 years though and there's been a lot of people that have crossed my path in that time. HADES: Hopefully, maybe sometime in the future, I might be able to run a few small angles such as AJ and Prophet are doing now. But for now, it's time for me to take a break :-) It might be forever, it might only be for a few months, I don't know. But if I am done for good, I'd like to thank all of you for voting for me for Wrestler of the Year, and sending me out on top of the IWF/WOW and e-wrestling in general! HADES: Thank you..... [The crowd jumps up in a standing ovation. Hades waves and gives a small bow as the screen fades to black....]
