Title History:
Superstar History:
He had his first match at the age of seventeen from there his career plateaued until he made his debut in the Texas based Championship Wrestling Federation in 2000. He worked his way up from the bottom of the ranks to being one of their main event stars in just 3 years. From there, he went on to High Impact Competition, while pulling triple duty with the Supreme Wrestling League under his Phoenix moniker and in CWF.
In HiC, he had minimal success although he did have the honor of beating the legendary Sirus Moran for their Thrash -N- Trash championship. Also, he kickstarted probably his most famous feud with one Scott Nash Strader. The two had a Nosferatu Crucifixion Match, which Cage lost.
In SWL, he became the first ever Intercontinental Champion and Tag Team Champion. But sadly the company folded before he could defend the belts.
He bounced from company to company including Apex Championship Wrestling where he picked up a win over his rival Scott Nash Strader.
From there, he went to the Xtreme Wrestling Entertainment. This is where his success began to pick up. He became the first ever X-Division Champion. Then he was part of the first ever Tag Team Champions with his partner Kid Kaos. Cage retired from XWE after losing his X-Division Championship to one Kindred London.
Once again, Cage bounced from company to company until landing in Underground X. This is where he donned his now signature face paint. He made his debut on May 26, 2007 against Rick Noble in a winning effort. From there he went on to become the UX Uncensored Champion, beating Kid X at Superiority. He held this title for a record breaking 83 days, making him the longest reigning champion in their short history. But he lost the title shortly before the company folded in October 2007.
Underground X made its return in January of 2008 and Cage was the first man to sign on the dotted line. At Redemption, he became UX Undisputed Champion defeating Reno Drake in a House of 10,000 Volts match with the assistance of owner John Fisher thus sparking Cage's heel turn and one of the most high profile feuds in the history of the business. Sadly, once again UX folded with Cage still holding the belt.
From there, Cage went on to open his own company Phoenix Wrestling Incorporated in mid-2008. He had moderate success but underpaid wrestlers and travel schedules forced Jonathan to close it down.
Then Underground X, opened it doors for the third time with Cage coming back as the Undisputed Champion. Thus marking his second reign as champion. Jonathan Cage finally lost this title at Mayhem 2008 when he was eliminated second by the eventual winner Sinister Fiend in a match that also included Reno Drake. From there Drake and Cage were slated to have a rubber match to settle the score with each other but it never happened. Leaving the fans to wonder if the two will ever see each other again.
Now Cage comes to Reno's stomping grounds, the eWo. Who knows if the two will cross paths once more. We'll all find out together... |
