Ra
Ra was the most influential and significant of all the System Lords, since he found out that the Tau�ri(Humans) could be used as hosts.  Ra was a Goa�uld that simply wanted the cheat death. Ra is accountable for transporting humans on different planets all over the galaxy.  These planets worshipped the Goa'uld who impersonated Earthen Gods, mostly Ancient Egyptian.  These humans were slaves for the Goa'uld and Ra was worshipped on the planet Abydos.  On Abydos, Ra had ordered that the humans mine naquada for his personal gain.  Ra was killed when O'Neill and Daniel transported a advanced nuclear bomb to his mothership.  He is wonderfully acted by Jaye Davidson and he was also only in the Stargate movie

Mythology of Ra/Re
Ra was the Egyptian God of the sun and his name meant "Creative power".  Very early on in the Egyptian history, he was associated with Horus and as a Falcon or Hawk-god.  He is represented as a Hawk or a Hawk-headed man.  In order to travel from Heaven and the Underworld he was depicted as riding in a boat.  Ra was the father of Tefnut and Shu, the grandfather of Geb and Nut, great grandfather of Osiris, Set, Isis, and Nephthys and the great-great-grandfather of Horus.
