On P3X-562, SG-1 discover a planet that is filled with blue crystals.  Travelling alone, O'Neill curiously touches one of them and is knocked unconscious.  A clone of O'Neill emerges and goes back to Earth with the team.  This double returns to O'Neill's "estranged" wife, Sara and tries to find their son, Charlie.  The crystals that SG-1 brought back are discovered not to be just crystals but in fact an living oraganism and they plead help from the humans.  They find out that if the crystals are kept on Earth they loose energy and turn into a walking nuclear bomb.
