E. Phillips Oppenheim lived in this house in Leicester, England from the time he was married until 1905. During this period, he worked during the day at his father's shoe factory, and in the evening returned home to write his books. By the time he left this house, he had already published 30 novels. His departure from this house also marks his departure from the shoe business, and his full-fledged launch as a novelist.
