The Legend Of The Warrior Princess

1. Sins Of The Past -   {DEBUT September 4, 1995}
After teaming up with her arch-enemy Hercules, and turning against the warlord Darphus, Xena sets out on a quest for atonement and redemption. On her way home, she encounters a small village that is being attacked by the warlord Draco. She outwits and defeats his band of soldiers, and is tailed by a star-struck peasant girl named Gabrielle, who is in search of more excitement and adventure. Upon her arrival home, she finds a bitter welcome when her mother reviles her bloody past,  hears of Draco's plans to destroy her village. Meanwhile, the entire town, full of distrust and disbelieve, tries to lynch Xena. But Gabrielle steps in just in time to save her. Xena and Draco square off in an amzing fight, and she ultimately defeats him. Gabrielle convinces her, and Xena agrees to her coming along. After regaining the trust of her mother, and saving the town, Xena sets out in search of her father, and begins her quest to make amends for her 'Sins Of The Past."


2. Chariots Of War -
Xena finds a village that is being attacked by the warlord Cycnus. She helps draw the band away, but is wounded by an arrow. She recovers in the home of the town carpenter, named Darius. Xena tries to convince Darius to fight to protect his town, but it's all in vain. Darius is a pascifist and doesn't believe in using violence. Xena can't help to be drawn to his morality and peaceful home life, they are polar opposites. But Xena sets out to defeat the warlord and his son. After Xena kills them, Darius asks Xena to stay with him and live a life of peace and happines. Xena replies, "I have never thought about having these things until now," but knows she must keep on her track of redemption. Xena continues on with her newly-found friend, Gabrielle.


3. Dreamworker -
Gabrielle is kidnapped by the minions of the god Morpheus, who whishes to see if Gabrielle is worthy to be his wife. To save her, Xena must enter the maze of the Dreamscape- the mystical realm where Morpheus, the god of dreams, dwells. Once she enters the state of unconciousness, she  finds herself in the  mystical realm. She encounters her evil half, created from all her dark thoughts and feelings. Xena discovers that "the key" to mastering her dark side is to accept her past and have hope in the future. She defeats her evil side, and rescues Gabrielle from Morpheus.


4. Cradle Of Hope -
Finding an abandoned baby by the riverbank, Xena and Gabrielle set out to find its parents in a nerby town. When they get there they discover that it is being hunted by the king's soldiers. The baby is doomed by a prophecy telling that he will one day take the king's throne. Xena soon finds out that King Greogor is not a bad man, but is blinded by the torment the death of his wife and son have caused. Meanwhile, a woman named Pandora takes care of the baby. She is the grand-daughter of the Pandora who first opened the box, releasing all but one of the contents in the box- the gods gift of hope. The box is seized by the king's soldiers in a fight. Xena and Gabrielle recover the box from Nemos, the minister, and urge the king to reconsider. "Think, Gregor!" she exhorts. "This child
will take your throne, but as your heir, not as your conqueror." King Gregor realizes this is true and aks Pandora if she'll be willing to help him take care of his new son. Nosy Gabrielle later opens the box but finds ita empty. She asks "What should we tell her?" Xena answers, "Hope had been  and always will be safe. It's inside every one of us."


5. The Path Not Taken -
The opening scene is a comedic parody to classic Western saloon fights. Xena fights off bandits, while Gabrielle- oblivious to whats happening- chats with someone about being lucky to find an empty table. The prince of Colonus seeks Xena's help to find his kidnapped fianc�, princess Jana of Boeotia. Her search for the princess leads her to a weapons dealer, Mezentius, who is behind the kidnapping in hopes of sparking a war. Xena revisits her old haunts when she infiltrates Mezentius's band, and is reunited with an old flame, Marcus. When Marcus discovers Xena's intentions, he warns Mezentius. During a battle, Mezentius shoots an arrow at Jana, and Marcus trows himself in front of her. An angered Xena quickly realizes Marcus has been slain, and  cuts Mezentius's throat with her Chakram in a blink of an eye. This is soon followed by a touching funeral pyrie, and Xena's mourning over the loss of a "good friend."


6.
The Reckoning -
The God of War frames Xena for murder, trying to tempt her back to her evil ways as a ruthless warlord. The villagers blame her and trow her in prison. The complexity of Xena's relationship with Ares is revealed. He is seductive, charming, tempting, and irresistible. Ares appears in her cell and offers to make her his queen is she goes back to her old ways, and uses violence to save herself. She refuses and awaits judgement in prison. When the prison guards torture her, Xena succumbs to Ares' temptation and her old rage temporarily. But as she is on a fighting spree, she hits Gabrielle by mistake, and pulls back in horror and returns to her cell to wait for her execution. The day of her execution she tricks Ares into revealing she is innocent, without using violence. An impressed Ares bids goodbye with his soon-to-be typical  last words: "Till next time."


7.
The Titans -
When villagers persuade Gabrielle to read from an ancient scroll, she releases 3 titans that had been imprisoned in stone for centuries.

Season One is where the Legend Of The Warrior Princess began. The myth of Xena is vividly revealed in the first season of episodes. A warrior with a chip on her shoulder, Xena sets out to make amends for her past deeds. Teamed up with the young, spirited, and  fast-talking Gabrielle, Xena's travels are a sure unforgettable adventure. We all want her to "Battle On Xena!"
