Here is my story…
Michael's story is told by his caregiver, his mom Lynn
Michael was 18 years old at time of diagnosis.
Michael had severe headaches and vomiting towards the end of February 2006. He was treated for migraines at an immediate care center. It was 19 days later that I was able to get him an appointment with his primary physician. He again said migraines, but I said "NO" and insisted on a CT Scan. The scan was done the following week on March 6, 2006 and showed a mass in the right frontal lobe.
On March 13th after progressively getting worse and waiting for an appointment to see a neuro-surgeon on the 14th, Michael collapsed at home and was rushed to the Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois where his surgeon drilled a burr hole to reduce the pressure in his brain. The next morning after having 3 seizures, he was operated on. Surgery lasted about 6 hours. From the follow up MRI and details given to us by his surgeon, 99% of the tumor was removed.
Dr. Caron said that he could have gone a bit deeper if the tumor was not lying right near the area where motor skills get their power from. Micael is doing fine so far and we are now waiting to see the radiologist, Dr. Melian at Loyola hospital on Tuesday April 18th.
That's my story
