DAVID LEWIS


    Mr. David Lewis, Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend received his Angel Wings Saturday, Dec. 17, at his home in Holmdel. Born in Oakhurst, he had lived in Holmdel for the past 15 years.

    Surviving are his wife of 26 years, the former Ilene Iskowe; a son, Jeffrey; and a daughter, Rita. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Blackman of Rochester, N.Y.; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Robert Rackenberg of Toms River, and Deanna and David Iskowe of Nashville, Tenn.; along with four nephews, Jason and Scott Blackman, and Michael and Andrew Rackenberg. He was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Mack Lewis.

    Mr. Lewis was a graduate of Ocean Township High School and the University of Jacksonville, Fla. He began his career in retailing with Abraham and Straus Department Stores in 1977, in positions including department manager, buyer, divisional product manager, and ultimately becoming a vice president of Federated Department Stores, the parent company of Abraham and Straus. David oversaw product development worldwide for Federated's many companies. In 1991, David became vice president of merchandising and manufacturing for Baxter International, a menswear manufacturing and sales company. In 1995, David became president of IDL International, a manufacturing consulting and import firm. His career took him to virtually every country innumerable times.

    He founded the Adult Ependymoma Online Support Group with his wife, Ilene in 1998. A part of T.H.E. Brain Trust, membership for this group has grown to over 100 people. Information, support and fellowship are provided to those affected by brain tumors on a worldwide basis. David Lewis also helped establish the Monmouth and Ocean county (New Jersy) Brain Tumor Support Group, which held its first meeting November, 2003. This group now provides support to over 170 people.One of the goals of this group is to raise the quality of life for its members. This goal is a direct reflection on the philosophy of David. When asked about the gravity of his situation of recurrant brain tumor, David Lewis responded, "Watcha' gonna do?" The person will be missed. His style of thinking will continue...
