Hi Dr. Landolfi;
Here is the next question from the group. First though, I want to pass on the sincere "thanks" expressed by many of the group members for your assistance.
After XXX years of survival, Do we still need MRIs?
We have heard ...Several of our members (myself included) have been told (by doctors) that, "After XXX years of survival, you don't need any more MRIs". Is this true? If it is, what is that period of time? Why do some doctors feel this way, while others feel MRIs will be required for the rest of one's life?
Thank you (as always)
Bruce
The doctor's response...
I can't say why they say or feel that way. I don't. Patients with brain tumors should be followed with lifetime MRI/CT even if the interval is extended to every 5-7 years as recurrance is always possible. In addition it allows detection hopefully prior to symptomatology. Only a few tumors (meningiomas/acoustics)after treatment and no change for five years may not have to be followed.
