Hi Dr. Landolfi;
Here is the next question from the group. First though, I want to pass on the sincere "thanks" expressed by many of the group members for your assistance.
I would like to ask a question If I might - Is there a direct relationship between radiation treatments, and deterioration of teeth or bones?
I ask this because if there is, then dental work could be considered "medical", and hopefully covered under health insurance plans
Thank you (as always)
Bruce
The doctor's response...
Even if it is secondary to a treatment (and certain forms of radiation and some drugs can affect the teeth), it is still dental and would be covered by a dental plan. you would have to discuss with the insurance if the doctor feels there is a cause/effect relationship to see if it would be covered outside of a dental plan. I doubt it.
