Hi Dr. Landolfi; Here is the next question from the group. First though, I want to pass on the sincere "thanks" expressed by many of the group members for your assistance.

We have noticed that sometimes when there is a recurrence, that the tumor is more aggressive/ higher grade. Why is this?

      Thank you (as always)
      Bruce

      The doctor's response...

Tumors are generally disregulated with regard to the way that they grow-they grow abnormally. When a low grade tumor is treated or followed and later changes, whether the change is progression or recurrence, it may be the same, but is typically, a higher grade. This represents further "gene" changes and cellular changes that causes further disregulation-going from a well differentiated cell to a less, or more aggressive, differentiated cell
