Possey, the orphaned brushtail possum
Received into care in mid-October 2001 weighing 175 gm; joined by female of similar size at 450 gm; released end of January 2002 weighing about 1 1/2 kilos.

Tippy
Tippy (also called Dipsey) came to us with a spinal injury which caused loss of muscle power. Saddly, she had to be euthanased because she wouldn't have survived in the wild.

Introducing Valentino
Received into care on Valentine's Day 2002 weighing 460 gm; released end of March 2002 weighing about 1 1/2 kilos.

Johan
Johan's mother was killed by a car. Released at the end of October 2002.

5 June 2002Fund-raising - donation made
Last month a donation of A$100 was made to RSPCA Wildlife (ACT). Most of this money was raised over the past few months by "gold" coin donation at our regular home video sessions. The money goes towards caring for and rehabilitating orphaned and injured native wildlife.
23 January 2002EPE Fan Club Relations' response to the merger
An e-mail from EPE Fan Club Relations contained these sentences:

"I will go ahead and remove the listing of the club Elvis First from our files. ... We thank you for all the hard work of Elvis First and we wish you all the luck on your future joint venture with Garry Buckley's club. It is always wonderful to see two clubs deciding to work together."

Elvis First is no longer a separate fan club, but is now part of the Elvis Legends Social Club of Canberra.

The January 2002 issue of the Elvis First Newsletter is out. This is the final monthly printed newsletter. 15 December 2001Elvis First donation
Elvis First has made a pre-Christmas donation of A$50 to the RSPCA Wildlife ACT, being money collected at Elvis video mornings over the past few months.

The October issue of the Elvis First Newsletter is out. Contents are: Disaster Relief CD announcement; Elvis Facts; Lyrics: Pieces of My Life; Presleys in the Press (September extracts).

In September Elvis First made another $100 donation to RSPCA Wildlife (ACT). This money was raised through selling fund raising chocolates and by donation at the regular video mornings. The money goes towards caring for and rehabilitating orphaned and injured Australian native wildlife. Susan is currently raising an orphaned baby brushtail possum for RSPCA Wildlife.
1 September 2001Donation to the Marymead Child and Family Centre
Immediately after the Candlelight Tribute memorial service on August 16, 2001, the collection was handed over to Margaret Backwell from Marymead. The collection raised $40.60. Margaret has informed me that they used the money to buy a kettle for their Residential Program.

The June issue of the Elvis First Newsletter is out. The big news is That's The Way It Is which is scheduled for a Canberra screening on August 2nd with a CHARITY GALA PREMIERE organised by the Master Plumbers' Association. From all accounts, this will be a large, exciting event. Other newsletter features include media reviews of TTWII and Kathy Westmoreland.

The May issue of the Elvis First Newsletter is out. It contains news of local events and selected items from the online "Presleys in the Press".

The irregular single news-sheet has been upgraded to a monthly 3-sheet newsletter. Membership can be kept at A$10 a year within Australia as long as the newsletter fits into a standard envelope at the base postage rate.

Come to a picnic/barbecue to celebrate Elvis' birthday. It will take place near Lennox Gardens on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin behind the Hyatt Hotel between 1 and 5 pm on Sunday, 7th January 2001. All welcome. BYO; Hawaiian theme.

Christine, President of the TCB Elvis Fan Club in Queensland, is calling for everyone to make a concerted effort to vote for Elvis at the Mosiqa International Artists' Poll site so that he can get further ahead in the poll by his birthday on January 8th 2001.
