| OBERON F808 MULTI-PURPOSE GEAR LUBRICANT (API GL-5) DESCRIPTION Oberon F808 is a multi-purpose Extreme Pressure(E.P.) Water Resistant gear lubricant for severe usage and conditions. Its versatile applicatiions include worm gears, hypoid gears, gear boxes, spur gears, herringbone gears and planetary gears, wherever an Extreme Pressure (E.P.) gear oil is specified.Oberon F808 meets and exceeds the following specifications; GL-5, MIL-L-2105D. CHARACTERISTICS ULTRA THERMAL STABILITY The ultra thermal stability in Oberon F808 makes it the only gear oil that ensures long service life of gear boxes as it protects against the formation of sludge, oxidation, carbon build-up and excessive viscosity increases. Conventional E.P. gear oils cause sludge and deposits to build up in the seal area. The seal under lip temperature rises 20 to 30 degrees Celsius higher than the already excessive bulk oil temperature in gear boxes. This temperature breaks down the seal elastomer, resulting in oil leakage and gearbox failure. OXIDATION STABILITY The high temperature resistance to oxidation in Oberon F808 prevents viscoisity thickening, gums and acids. Such undesirable oxidation by-products shorten gear oil and equipment service life. HIGH WATER RESISTANCE Quick water separation to ensure effective lubrication is another characteristic of Oberon F808. This is a necessary requirement in heavy-duty operations, and whenever water contamination is difficult to avoid. ADHESIVE-COHESIVE PROPERTIES The adhesive-cohesive properties of Oberon F808 coat metal surfaces to reduce backlash, and quiter gearbox noise under all conditions. The high stay-on quality in Oberon F808 forms a tough oil film that even the wiping action of a hypoid gear cannot remove. RECOMMENDATIONS While Oberon F808 is designed primarily for industrial applications, it is also excellent for automotive such as manual transmissions, conventional and limited slip differentials. Indefinite oil change period, unless otherwise specified by equipment manufacturers. |
