OCTOBER 28TH, 1900 ... The weekly magazine 'Los Deportes' published the official foundation date of RCD Espa�ol, whose first President was Angel Rodr�guez 

 

RICARDO ZAMORA / THE BEST GOALKEEPER EVER

 

 RICARDO ZAMORA played his first game on April 23th, 1916 against Real Madrid at age 16. The match finished 0-0 and Zamora was the MVP.

 

.   TOMMY N�KONO impressed everyone in the 1982 World Cup and later on became an Espanyol icon in the 80s.

Another brilliant goalkeeper, Toni has been the best spanish goalkeeper several years in the 90�s.

In 1903-1904 season, Espanyol won the Macaya Cup, and after that the Catalan Championship.

In December 31th, 1904, Espanyol played his first international game. It was against the French team of Stade Olympien des Estudiants de Toulouse. These were the names of our players: Fuster, Galiardo, Garriga, Darne, Meyer, Soler, Green, Ponz, Mora, M�ndez and Sampere.

Espanyol beat Real Madrid in the final played in Valencia. The result was 2-1 Padr�n and Bosch scored.

One of the best teams in our club�s history, with the forward line known as 'Los cinco delfines', the unforgettable Amas, Marcial, Re, Rodilla and Jose Mar�a.

This team defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach, Milan AC, Inter Milan, Viktovice and Brugges with Javier Clemente as a coach and players like NKono, Lauridsen, Valverde, Losada, Pineda, Z��iga, Job, Zubillaga, etc ... Finally lost the final vs. Bayer Leverkusen in the penalty series.

 

 One of the most glorious moments in Espanyol�s history. Pichi Alonso has scored the third goal , in the last minute of overtime, against Brugges. Espanyol thus qualified for his first European final.

LAURIDSEN ... EL M�S QUERIDO

lAURI  El dan�s John Lauridsen (en la imagen antes de un partido con los veteranos) ha sido sin duda el jugador m�s querido por la afici�n del Espanyol en los �ltimos a�os. Sigue siendo, junto a Tommy N�kono el mejor jugador extranjero que nunca haya jugado en el Espanyol.

Arteaga levanta la Copa junto a Cavallero y Pochetino  Third Cup. May, 27th 2000. Espanyol win  Atl�tico de Madrid at Valencia  2-1 (Tamudo and Sergio) reaching his 3rd Cup.
