maverick MEDIA GROUP published Maverick Magazine (1991-1996) and produced special editions of Maverick Video Magazine for local cable television. Both dealt with fashion and lifestyles focusing on community service endeavors. mMG also produced a weekly half-hour cable series called Maverick's Runway Report, which covered local and national fashion shows & special events (1995-1996). mMG's first television program was a weekly one-hour cable series called Boston: Style Profiles (1990-94). Both hosted by Mariclaire Hession on BNN-TV. mMG was pivotal in developing Boston's annual fashionWEEK (1995-present) which is a part of the Made In Boston USA campaign. fashionWEEKEND is a special spring/summer series of events that was added to the effort to promote and develop the local fashion scene. In conjunction with Art Newbury Street, mMG launched the fashionWALK, turning Newbury Street into possibly the world’s longest outdoor runway. In it’s third year (1999), it transformed into fashionWALK on The Square and includes the taking of a historic photograph of leaders in the Boston fashion community assembled on the steps of the Boston Public Library. mMG assisted in the installation of an exhibition at the Boston Public Library named Fashion: Made In Boston (October 1998). The exhibit reflected work on a documentary of the same name to be released later that year. In October 1999 an exhibition called Vision 2000 displayed 10 designs created by area designers embodying their vision for fashion in 2000 and beyond. In 2001 mMG brought 7 Boston-based photographers to participate in a group photo exhibition called the Foundation of Fashion. modelBoston - an event that presents 30 faces that represent the look of fashionWEEK every year and the Vision Awards - based on the Maverick Awards presented during the first Boston fashionWEEK in 1995 - are events that have been added to the official fashionWEEK roster. The Vision Awards have become an opportunity to honor leadership, excellence, community service and scholarship. mMG has always been committed to excellence in education and in 2001 developed and produced the Style Summit at the Boston Center for Adult Education featuring 20 speakers representing all areas of the fashion industry. maverick
