Getting Started
===============

ICEd does not need International Cricket Captain to be installed on your
PC to be operational.

However, to be able to display player's photographs, ICC should be installed.
When ICEd is run for the first time, you will be prompted to enter the folder
that ICC was installed in.

Select the ICEd icon on the Start Menu to fire up ICEd

Open File
=========

Choose to open an ICC file from the menu, the toolbar or Ctrl-O.

You can choose to either open an ICC database (*.DB files) or a saved game
(*.CAP files). Please note that it is always wise to back up your files
before editing them. No responsibility is held for any damage caused to ICC
files through the use of this editor. The editor does not have an "Undo"
option and therefore once you make a change, you normally cannot undo it.
So always take care and back up any files.

ICEd also supports drag-and-drop (drag a CAP or DB file from explorer and
drop it on ICEd to open the file).

ICEd has only been tested on ICC patched 1.34 and earlier with the English
county version.

Editting Players
================

Once you have opened an ICC file (database or saved game) a teams "tree"
will appear on left side. Click on the + button next to a team name or
double click on the team name to list the players in that teams squad.

Note: "Other" includes all players not signed by a team.
They could be either foreign or from the Minor Counties.

Next to each players name listed on the left is also the type of player they
are, whether it be batsman, wicketkeeper, bowler or all-rounder. Choose one
of the players to edit by clicking on his name. This will load their details
into the main player edit frame on the right, including their photo in the top
left corner of the frame. The photos are only displayed if ICEd is installed
in the ICC folder.

Click on the Photo button located just below the player's photograph to
assign a new photo to that player. Photographs must be in BMP format and
are 60x70 pixels in size.

Almost every aspect of a player can be changed. You can edit their given names
(or given and middle names) and their surname. You can edit their date of birth,
wages and the length of their current contract.

You can edit their current team (if you choose the blank option under team this
will place them in the "Other" list), and you can edit their "Origin"
(make sure you choose a nationality, not a team name).

Next you can change the type of player they are, whether it be a batsman,
bowler, all-rounder or opening batsman. You can also select them to be wicket
keepers (can be fulltime like Warren Hegg or parttime like Justin Langer).

The styles of bowling you can change to are: Off-spin, leg-spin, medium,
medium-fast, fast-medium and fast. You can also select which arm the bowl
with.

Under batting the option is available to change the hand they bat with and
also their batting strengths (ie, righthand or lefthand bat, back or front
foot, leg side or off side, and fast bowling or spin bowling.

The buttons labelled "Average", "Good", "Excellent" and "Super Batsman"
enable you to choose how good a player is.

Note, "Super Batsman" only effects the abilities of the player as a batsman
and turns them into a "Super Player" where they cannot get out (except by
run-out) when batting.

Use these cautiously as you are not able to view what the player was
originally and there is no "reset this player" option.

The "Copy From" button (or press Ctrl-C) allows you to copy all the
abilities from another player into this player. For example, if you selected
Michael Davies from Northamptonshire and copied from Shane Warne then
Michael Davies would be exactly the same in Warne's abilities (and also the
attributes).

Pressing the "Stats" button or Alt-S brings up the career statisics for the
player. You can edit any of these stats. The RPO rate and the averages are
calculated when you click on the "Update Avg." button. The "Clear All Stats"
button will of course clear all the stats. Once a player has been edited in
some way, an asterisk will appear alongside his name in the left window.
These asterisks disappear when the file is saved.

Editting Teams
==============

Under the Edit menu, or using the toolbar or pressing Ctrl-T you will be
presented with the Team Properties dialog box.

Choose the team you wish to edit from the drop down box. This will load the
current squad of players for that team into two separate boxes. One contains
the teams First XI and the other contains the remaining players of the squad.

Team name can be edited directly from the Team drop down box. A warning first
that editing a teams name can cause the database or the saved game to become
unstable.

You can also change the team budget here.

Next you can move players in and out of the teams First XI by using either
the <<< and >>> buttons or the swap button (<<<>>>). Always make sure you
have 11 players in the First XI. Before adding a player First XI, you must
remove one first.

In the Team Properties window is also a Hire button and a Sack button.
The Hire button allows you to easily and quickly sign a player to this team
(instead of changing it in the player edit option mentined earlier).
When you click on the Hire button it will bring up a dialog with a list of
all of the players in alphabetical order or click on the Teams/Origin
column heading to sort it by Teams/Origin. The Sack button sends a player
to the "Other" list. Choose the player(s) you wish to sack and then press
the Sack button and they immediately are gone. You cannot sack a player
from the First XI list.

You can modify the batting order by drag-and-drop players in the First XI
list to their desired positions. Captain, Wicket keeper and the opening
bowlers can be assigned by click on the appropriate buttons below the
First XI list.

Both the Player list and the First XI list support multiple selection
(Hold Ctrl or Shift key down while clicking on the player names).

Other Options
=============

To collapse the tree of names under each team, select on the Collapse Tree
option under the View menu or press Alt-C.

From the Edit menu you can choose to Search for players based on their
surnames only. You can make the search Case Sensitive and also to find the
Whole Word. The you can also choose to search from the toolbar or by pressing
Alt-F3. Pressing F3 or the Find Next button on the toolbar or Find Next from
the Edit menu will search for the next player matching the set criteria.

Under the Help menu you will find out about this version of ICEd and the
crew involved in it's creation.
