by: =sequi= Life is a continuous journey towards growth and learning. The third stepping stone to slavery is humility and obedience. Humility is defined best by the quote from Ralph W Stockman.... "True humility is intelligent self respect which helps us from thinking too highly or too meanly of ourselves." It makes us modest by reminding us how far we have come short of what we can be. A humble slave knows and understands that being humble is not about self-degradation, it is about self-awareness. This is the awareness of our own strengths and weaknesses. We acknowledge our gifts and work on our own short comings. People who lack humility fail to understand and embrace what others have to offer. They lack the ability to form fellowships with others in the lifestyle. A humble slave submits to the will and pleasures of their Master. The Master's needs and desires take precedence over their own. A humble slave is filled with joy in the service of others. They find great pleasure in meeting the needs of others and do not let ego and pride detract from their submission. A humble slave is unassuming and acquiescent. If you find yourself wanting to sit at the head of the table, wanting others to recognize your contributions or become offended when others are chosen instead of you, then pride is present. To be a slave means to lack all signs of pride and to release ones ego. A humble slave realizes their mistakes and feels saddened by their disobedience. A slave demonstrates pride in service when they are willing to admit and correct the wrongs in their lives. You are humble enough to confess your errors and retrace your steps. A humble slave does not gloat about their accomplishments. Instead they use service to reduce the focus on themselves. Through a Master's guidance we are able to obtain insight into our submission and to develop a truer perspective or ourselves. A humble slave is patient when others have done wrong and they graciously accept correction and feedback. Through forgiveness we are able to acknowledge wrong that has been done to us and free ourselves from thoughts of retribution. A slave does not have to be the shining star rather she demonstrates grace and style in her obedience. Thought humility we are able to become obedient to the will of our Master. When a proper foundation of trust has been set, this can be the ultimate freeing experience. A well defined routine of structure and discipline enhances our ability to become obedient. Obedience doe not take away your individuality but instead improve our ability to see beyond our own defined boxes. We are free to accept the will of another and to become strong individuals. www.mast-kc.org [email protected]
