The Fall of a Man
by: enslaved heart

There lives a man, not an ordinary man but an amazing man, a man like no other. He is loved by a woman with a love so pure and strong that it consumes her. It is felt in every beat of her heart, every breath, every moment of every day she lives. She adores his laugh, his words, his touch makes her life worth living. When asked to give him her heart, mind, and body for him to teach, to guide and to mold, to entrust him with her hopes and fears, to share with him her very soul, she did not hesitate for she knew he was the one.
Days became weeks, weeks to months and months turned into years and she stayed by his side, the joy made her strong, the pain humbled her. She grew to love him more that she believed she could or would. So out of respect, admiration and gratitude, she placed him on a pedestal. This made her happy.
As she sat at the base of his perch, she planted flowers and tended his garden so that everyone who passed would admire it. When they looked upon her, they could not help but see the love she had come to know with this man.
Threw the heat of the day, the dark of the night, she never moved. And when the rain came and the winds blew causing the pedestal to tremble, she wrapped her arms around it and held it steady until the storm has passed.
Other men had come to notice her, they admired how well she guarded her post and wanted her for their own. They tried to steal her from this man, trick her into believing he did not deserve her, they tried to place doubts in her heart. She held onto the pedestal even tighter, ignoring their insults and ridicule when they became angry at their defeat.
Yet in time, her arms began to ache and she grew weary. She crawled into the shade of a tall tree and rested. Without her guard it was not long until the pedistal began to shake. She was helpless to do anything more than sit and watch as the pillar of stone violently crashed to the ground and the man landed at her feet.
He looked at her and called her name but she turned away. Anger and fear filled her heart. She could not undertand why he had been so careless to allow himself to fall. She watched and waited for him to offer an explanation but he had none to offer.
So they sat on the ground hoping to find the answer when the cloud of confusion has settled.
