Television:
Unfortunatly the achievments of our much loved Chickens are few and far between when it comes to the television. The lovable creatures have yet to cause a huge impact on British screens, however they have not given up and will continue to push for more prime time coverage. Having said this Chickens have made a few regular prime time appearances on our screens:
Big Brother: A set of Chickens has appeared in every series of the English Big Brother and continues to make the reality TV show a real success amongst Chicken fans everywhere. Some have even argued that the presence of Chickens in this show is the only barrier between success and certain failure.
The Good Life: Possibly the English Chicken's greatest success. The mere appearance of Chickens on this underachieving Sit-Com has pushed ratings through the roof, and has led to The Good Life being voted one of the top ten British Sit-Coms of all time! Although the Chicken's part in this program is small the effect is obvious to all who watch.
The Chicken has also made minor appearances in many television adverts inclusing: KFC, Mc Donalds and Burger King. However these are mostly "walk on parts" and do not gain much recognition for the Chicken involved.
Chickens world-wide have been nominated for best supporting actor/actress at many awards ceremonies for their role in cookery programs. Performances like that of Lary the Chicken in Delia Smiths cookery program left Chickens with almost international acclaim, yet they were sadly pipped to the post other actors who only one because of past performances, but one day their glory will come. When the entertainment world stands up and says "Yes, we love Chickens!"
Film
Chicken Run
So far this is the only Chicken staring film produced. However it has enough quality to count for three! Chicken Run, the story of Chickens escaping from the clutches of an evil farm which plans to turn them into Chicken pie! What is the problem I hear you cry! And I agree, Chicken Pie one of the top uses for Chicken in the modern world. Nevertheless this film will grab the attention of any true Chicken fan and have them glued to their seats for the whole 90 minutes.
Music:
I am yet to see any real quality of Chicken music produced yet. However here at the Official Chicken fan Site we are still waiting for the anticipated number one record to be released by one of the many up and coming Chicken Pop acts. Any news will be posted here as soon as it breaks!
Computer Games:
The Chickens largest field of success is definatly computer games. Chickens have starred in and supported numerous games for computer consuls since thier boom in the late 1980s. There are 2 games which both display the Chicken at its peak in the computer game age.
Alfred Chicken:
This cheeky chappy can only claim a place in History as being the only Chicken to date to start in a computer game. Internationally known Alfred Chicken has been played, loved, and praised by the international community of Chicken fans for many a long year. The game has also expanded from its original game on the NES to have sequels on the SNES, GameBoy and Playstation, if that does not echo quality I don't know what does! Another platform game maybe, but with quality like this would you really want to be playing anything else? I think not!
The Zelda Series:
Not a staring part here. However Chickens have appeared in most of the Zelda games and have always managed to achieve a unique point by which to remeber them. Yes. The famous Chicken attack. At first the Chickens seem small and defenceless, any easy target for any would be hero. However after taking a couple of strikes from Link's sword the Chickens are soon into action. One single Chicken will call in reinforcements and soon Link finds himself under an almighty pelting as Chickens appear from all corners attacking him with their vicious beaks until the job is done. Some may say this shows Chickens to be violent and dangerous creatures. Far from it, what it really shows is a bird which is willing to stand up for itself and defend its fellow Chicken from the cowardly attacks of a suposed hero. That'll teach him to mess with Chickens again!
