| IRC: A pretty good place to waste time |
| IRC is a chat server that I frequent, usually when I have spare time on my hands. It's a pretty fickle "society" if you can call it that. People form exclusive groups in rooms designed for all types of people. I was once a newbie myself (referring to a person new to IRC chat) and the only reason I got talked to was because I knew someone in there already. Don't get me wrong, it is a good chat facility. Infact, probably the best one out there. In my opinion the net itself was a good idea that became too commercialised. This world is full of people we'd deem as socially inept. Be they perverts, loners or whatever. With a revolutionary invention like the net you was always gonna attract such people. Unfortunately they form the majority in the World Wide Web. There are still lots of decent people to meet and forge relationships with online via chat facilities like IRC and so forth. However, most people are probably best avoided. I'm probably one of those people in some minds. But hey, can't be liked by everyone can you? Oops, almost forgot to add that Smuncher is a Michael Hunt (that is rhyming slang we use in England). |
