"IIIIII'LLLLLL BBBBBEEEEEE BBBBBAAAACCCCCKKKKK!" he shouts as he plummets. 

Then he turns and looks down at the lake and its furiously boiling, superheated waters. 

"OOORRRR MMMMAAAAYYYBBBEEE NNNOOOTTTT!" 

He vanishes among the vapors. 

"He was a good gnome," Eusibius says. 

"He slaughtered entire villages!" the young lady says. 

The minotaur shakes his head and sighs. "And here I used to think I was quite the monster, by eating only a person or two a day."  

The balloon floats over the edge of the plateau and leaves Volcano Land far behind. 

"This must be a tough time for you," you say to the young lady. "Your whole family lost -- " 

"They weren't my family," she says.  "I answered an ad in the paper for a virgin sacrifice, that's how I ended up there."  She tilts her head.  "But I know what you mean.  It is kind of sad.  Now I won't get paid." 

The balloon gradually and gently lands.  You and the minotaur and the young lady climb out and stretch your legs.  Suddenly the young lady turns to you. 

"There's something I should say," she says, looking into your eyes. 

"You hope we can just be friends," you say. 

"I was going to say, 'Thank you for rescuing me.'" 

"Oh!  Sure, you're welcome." 

"And that part about just being friends -- that too." 

You kick a stone and watch it fly toward the trees.  "Yep." 

"You have to understand," she says, "I'm very particular about the kind of person I let into my life.  You see, I'm waiting for that one special, sensitive and caring -- " 

Just then, a guy pushing a motorcycle arrives. 

"Who are you?" she asks. 

"Get on," he says. 

"Okay." 

The motorcycle rolls down the hill, out of sight. 

"Man, that guy is a player," Eusibius says.  "It must be some kind of spell." 

You nod your head in agreement, and then run for your life as he tries to eat you. 

You suddenly remember you left your wallet at the visitor center giftshop.
