From a broad perspective, the earth can be said to consist of 5 "permanent kingdoms". They are:-
We, as human beings need to find out, which of these kingdoms, we belong to.
We try to become part of the Kingdom of Man, by getting along with people well, emulating them, serving them and co-ordinating all our activities to keep the world running.
But, our minds are constantly involved in a tug-of-war between God and the Devil; God always wants us to become part of the Kingdom of God; but the Devil tries to drag us down to the Kingdom of Animals!
Think about all the evil things that happen in our world; all these deeds arise from the mind of a man who behaves like an animal! Be it robbery, rape, murder, racial discrimination, dowry harassment, hatred, jealousy, lying... it is done with the mind of an animal!
Well that's what the devil wants us to be. But what does God want of us?
In
the Bible, Jesus Christ tells us not to have this animal-mind of "getting"
but to give and forgive.
He wants us to hate evil, but not the evil-doer!
He asks us to set our minds on eternal things and not on the temporal things
of the world.
He didn't just preach these things; he lived it out.
And He promised that all who followed His example would rise again after death,
to live in heaven with Him forever; never to die again.
The whole world is involved in this tug-of-war. Towards which kingdom are you heading? Jesus Christ, in John 10:10 reminds us :- "The thief does not come, except to steal and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have life abundantly..."
