GUIDELINES TO ESTABLISH “ PCRA STUDENT CHAPTER ” AT CPCL POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, MANALI, CHENNAI

 

¨      The Petroleum Conservation Research Association and the CPCL Polytechnic College shall jointly manage the student chapter of PCRA at CPCL Polytechnic College, Manali, Chennai.

¨      The membership of the student chapter shall be open to the students doing Diploma in Petrochemical Technology (DPCT) and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at CPCL Polytechnic College.

¨      The premises, Office furniture and stationary etc required for the functioning of the Students Chapter shall be arranged by the CPCL Polytechnic College.

¨      ED PCRA shall be the Ex-Officio Chairman and principal CPCL polytechnic shall be the Ex-Officio , Vice Chairman of the chapter & CRC(SR) will be the coordinator of the PCRA student chapter.

¨      Secretary and two executive members shall be selected / elected from the student members of the chapter.

¨      To become a member of the student chapter , the students will have to pay a nominal annual subscription , say Rs.50/- or so.

¨      There will be regular interaction between PCRA Officials (CRC, SR) and the members of the student chapter, wherein; the activities being undertaken by PCRA would be explained.

¨      The Chairman & Vice chairman shall jointly draw action plans for the activities to be conducted in the region through the student chapter in line with PCRA mandate.

¨      The members of PCRA student chapter will be issued membership certificate. This certificate will enable them to claim membership of a professional scientific body while applying for jobs/ higher studies.

¨      A Lump sum annual grant will be provided for sustenance of PCRA student’s chapter. The grant should be utilized for the stated objectives of PCRA. An audited statement of account will be submitted at the end of financial year to finance department of PCRA HQ, New Delhi.

¨      Some of the popular magazines & journals concerning energy conservation & environment protection will be subscribed by the student chapter for CPCL polytechnic library. 

¨      The necessary backup material like literature, films etc. required by the student chapter shall be provided by CRC(SR) on demand.

¨      The members of the chapter shall act as ambassadors of PCRA and in consultation with CRC(SR) & CPCL Polytechnic College Authorities shall be  allocated a particular area, where they would undertake activities  like agriculture surveys ,organizing consumer meets and giving tips etc   to spread the message of conservation . This would be a purely vocational exercise. The monetary expenses/ support services for conducting these activities shall be provided by PCRA out of the annual grant.

¨      The members of student chapter would be required to submit a report to PCRA, covering the following details: -

o        How the areas where conservation efforts were required were identified?

o        How the message and methods of conservation were conveyed?

o        What were the outcomes of transmitting such information’s?

From the various reports, the Best report may be selected by CPCL Polytechnic College & PCRA jointly and an award/ memento could be presented to the student submitting the Best report.

¨      Depending on the number of programmes conducted by the members, PCRA will award gold Certificate to these students who have conducted more than 3 programmes and a Silver certificate to the students who have conducted more than 2 programme’s. 

¨      Depending upon the success of the PCRA student’s chapter at CPCL possibility could be explored to start similar chapter in other parts of the country.

¨      As an independent exercise, we shall strive to introduce a course on energy efficiency, oil & gas conservation and environmental protection in the syllabus for student of Diploma courses
