Notes for Isaac "Ikie" Back:
Isaac enlisted in the Confederate Army on 9/7/1862 in Jackson, KY.� His younger brother, John, had been in the same regiment (5th Kentucky) for almost a year.� Another younger brother, Lewis, enlisted four days after Isaac.� There were also three or four of their first cousins in the same regiment.� Isaac attained the rank of Third Sergeant; however, he was reported as a deserter on 8/10/1863 when the regiment was ordered south from Virginia to Knoxville.
