Flowers and Gardens:
I love house plant, outdoor plants, and gardens.  I was raised on a Vineyard in New York's Grape Belt.  That instilled in me a love of blooming fruit trees, vines, and flowers.

So give me a plot of earth and I can grow just about anything on it.  Living in the city, plots of earth are hard to come by so I have had to teach myself how to grow things in pots.  Growing plants in pots, indoors was a challege for me.  I am sorry to say I killed many houseplants.  The tide has shifted however and I am starting to get the hang of it.

The first house plant was there when I moved in.  The previous tenant gave me one of two philodendron he had in jars.  Since this is one of the easiest plants in the world to care for I started out easy.

My mother gave me two Red Hibiscus plants as a house warming gift when I acquired the new apartment.  They are sacred to the Goddess and fast became my favorite plant.  During the summer they did quite well on the porch.  Over the winter I brought them in the house.  While they have stopped blooming I have been trimming them.  They are doing very well and are getting large.  I hope to get some more plants of different colors as well as start some from cuttings of the plants I already have.

Two Concord Grape vines were purchased to live outdoors, year-round on the porch.  What can I say except that what they say is true:  You can take the girl out of the vineyard...but not the vineyard out of the girl :)

I was given an African Violet at work.  It sat on my desk and bloomed like carzy.  I brought that home to add to the collection.

I received a Mini Rose plant as a gift.  It was full of red blossoms and buds.  I love the way they look but I am convinced Roses don't like me.  I managed to kill it.

Also part of the collection is a 'Lucky Babmoo' arrangement purchased from a fair.  They need very little light and a ton of water.  My mother has some and they have done quite well.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens recently underwent a face lift.  It is truly a sight to see.  It is one of my favorite places in Buffalo.  Chck it out:
