SO WHAT COMES NEXT?
Ah.  I get this question a lot.  In fact, a friend asked me just the other day what actually came after Ender's Game.  To clear this up for people, I give them a mental picture which I will attempt to illustrate here.  Ender's Game was written in 1984.  It is the first book of the series (or, rather, whichever series you follow).  There are really two "avenues" of books, one that follows Ender and Valentine (the Speaker for the Dead track) and one that follows Bean, Petra, and Peter (the Ender's Shadow track).  Orson Scott Card was completely finished with the first set of books before he even began to contemplate the parallel novel (Ender's Shadow) idea.  Ender's Shadow was created as a stand-alone book, so that it would not be necessary to have read Ender's Game to understand it.  However, I haven't known anyone who has started with Ender's Shadow, and I feel that the first book is necessary for true appreciation of the parallel novel.
The two "tracks" are completely different from one another.
Speaker for the Dead and its following are nothing like the original Ender's Game.  In the same way, the Ender's Shadow road also has its own style and flavor.  They are all excellent books, and have received praise and recognition throughout the world.
