WHAT
IS THE CORRECT DATE TO KEEP THE PASSOVER
DID
CHRIST CHANGE THE DATES OR ONLY THE SYMBOLS
SHOULD
WE KEEP THE PASSOVER THE SAME TIME AS THE OLD TESTAMENT WHICH WAS ORDAINED
FOREVER
HAS
THE NEW TESTAMENT STATED WHICH DAY SHOULD BE KEPT
WHEN
DO WE SHOW THE LORDS DEATH TILL HE COMES
THE
SEVEN DAYS OF UNLEAVENED BREAD ARE ALSO CALLED THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED
BREAD.
2
CHRON 30 V 21
21And
the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of
unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the
priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments unto
the LORD.
EZRA
6 V 22
22And
kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had
made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them,
to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel..
THE
PASSOVER MEAL IS ALSO CALLED THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD.
LUKE
22 V 1
1Now
the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
THIS
FEAST WAS EATEN ON THE 15TH.
LEV
23 V 6
6And
on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread
unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
NUM
28 V 17.
7And
in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened
bread be eaten.
THE
FOLLOWING PAGES CONFIRM THAT THE OLD TESTAMENT PASSOVER WAS KILLED OR PREPARED
ON THE 14TH AND EATEN ON THE 15TH.
THE
ONLY QUESTION IS DID JESUS CHANGE THE DATE WHEN HE ATE THE PASSOVER ON
THE NIGHT OF THE 14TH. ONE DAY EARLY BECAUSE HE HAD TO BE SACRIFICED AT
THE SAME TIME THAT THE PASSOVER LAMBS WERE BEING SACRIFICED ON THE AFTERNOON
OF THE 14TH
CHRIST
COULD NOT EAT IT ON THE 15 TH BECAUSE HE KNEW HE WOULD DIE AT THE TIME
THE PASSOVER LAMBS WERE BEING SACRIFICED WHICH OCCURRED ON THE AFTERNOON
OF THE 14TH
DID
CHRIST CHANGE THE DATES....
THE
FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES GIVE THE ANSWER.
EX
12 V 14,17,24.
14And
this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast
to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an
ordinance for ever.
17And
ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day
have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye
observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
24And
ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for
ever.
THIS
DAY [15TH] TO BE KEPT FOREVER
EX.
12 V 42
2It
is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from
the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all
the children of Israel in their generations.
TO
BE OBSERVED BY ISRAELITES IN THEIR GENERATIONS.
EX
13 V 3
3And
Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from
Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought
you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten
REMEMBER
THIS DAY.
EX
13 V 10
10Thou
shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
TO
BE KEPT IN ITS SEASON FROM YEAR TO YEAR.
DEUT
16 V 3
3Thou
shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened
bread therewith, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out
of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou
camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life. REMEMBER
THIS DAY ALL YOUR LIFE.
THE
OLD TESTAMENT PASSOVER WAS ORDAINED FOREVER. THERE IS NO MENTION OF JESUS
CHANGING THE DATES, ONLY THE SYMBOLS.
JESUS
KEPT THE PASSOVER AT THE START OF THE NIGHT OF THE 14TH . JESUS DIED IN
THE AFTERNOON OF THE 14TH THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS KILLED IN THE AFTERNOON
OF THE 14TH THE SYMBOLS OF CHRISTS BODY ARE TO BE EATEN THE APPROXIMATE
SAME TIME AS THE LAMB WAS EATEN. JESUS WAS DEAD WHEN WE ARE TO TAKE THE
SYMBOLS OF THE PASSOVER.
THE
NEW TESTAMENT TELLS US WHEN THE PASOVER IS TO BE KEPT. THE DAY JESUS DIED
WAS THE PREPARATION OF THE PASSOVER.
JOHN
19 V 14
14And
it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he
saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
WHEN
DO WE SHOW THE LORDS DEATH TILL HE COMES
THE
PASSOVER IS A MEMORIAL OF CHRISTS DEATH, IT MUST BE TAKEN ON THE NIGHT
AFTER HIS DEATH. THIS IS WHAT THE SCRIPTURE STATES
1
COR 11 V 26
For
as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lords's
death till he come.
Read
that scripture again, you can't keep a memorial of something BEFORE the
event occurred.
The
above scripture tells us when to keep the Passover. It is after sunset
on the night of Christs death. Christ died on the day before the
1st day of Unleavened Bread.
The
Passover is to be taken that night after sundown at the start of the 1st
day of Unleavened Bread. This is when the Passover was eaten in O.T.
times and is when we are told by scripture to keep it. Once again
we state you cannot keep a memorial before the event.
In
Old Testament times they killed the lambs before sunset on the end of the
14th.
They
ate the lambs after sunset on the start of the 15th which is the 1st day
of Unleavened Bread.
In
the New Testament Christ died before sunset on the end of the 14th.
We
eat the bread and drink the wine after sunset on the start of the 15th
which is the 1st day of Unleavened bread as a memorial of Christs death.
READ
THIS PLAIN AND SIMPLE TRUTH UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND IT
THE
DAY CHRIST DIED WAS ALSO THE PREPARATION OF THE HOLY DAY.
JOHN
19 V 30,31,42.
When
Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It
is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave
up the ghost.
1The
Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should
not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was
an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that
they might be taken away.
42There
laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews preparation day; for the
sepulchre was nigh at hand.
THE
PASSOVER IS EATEN IN THE HOLY DAY.
1
COR 5 V 7
7Purge
out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.
For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
THE
PASSOVER LAMB POINTED TO CHRISTS SACRIFICE. CHRIST KNEW HIS TIME HAD COME.
HE KEPT THE PASSOVER A DAY EARLY, SO HE COULD BE SACRIFICED AT THE SAME
TIME THE LAMBS WERE SACRIFICED FOR THE PASSOVER, AND CHANGED THE SYMBOLS.
HE DID NOT CHANGE THE DAY. THE ORIGINAL DATE WAS ORDAINED FOREVER.
JOHN
6 V 4
4And
the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
THE
PASSOVER IS CALLED A FEAST OF THE JEWS.
JOHN
7 V 2.
JEWS
FEAST OF TABERNACLES. BOTH THESE FEASTS ARE GODS, NOT ONLY JEWS. READ THESE
VERSES CAREFULLY.
JOHN
2 V 13
13And
the Jews passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,
JEWS
PASSOVER.
JOHN
2 V 23
23Now
when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed
in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
JESUS
ATTENDED THE JEWS PASSOVER IN THE FEAST DAY. THIS IS THE DATE OF GODS PASSOVER
WHICH WAS ORDAINED FOREVER. LAMB SACRIFICED 14TH , THE 14 TH IS THE PREPARATION
DAY AND ALSO THE PASSOVER DAY, THE LAMB OR THE PASSOVER MEAL IS EATEN ON
THE 15TH .THIS IS THE START OF THE 1ST DAY OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, IT IS EATEN
AFTER SUNSET ON THE START OF THE HOLY DAY.
MATT
26 V 17
17Now
the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus,
saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
'DAY'
MEANS APPROXIMATE TIME.
MARK
14 V 12
12And
the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples
said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest
eat the passover?
'DAY'
MEANS APPROX. TIME
LUKE
22 V 7
7Then
came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
'DAY
'MEANS APPROX. TIME.
THERE
IS NO CONFLICTION IN GODS WORD, THE PASSOVER DATE HAS NOT CHANGED, ONLY
THE SYMBOLS.
The
Feast of Unleavened Bread starts on the beginning of the 15th. The
feast pictures putting sin out of our lives.
During
this time we remember how God delivered the Israelites from Egypt, the
death of Christ and how He paid the penalty for our sins. We
mainly focus on trying to live our lives the way Christ lived His life.
We try very hard to put sin out of our lives.
Christs
death was for our physical healing as well as our spiritual cleansing.
Notice
this scripture and lets really look at what healing is mentioned.
ISA
53 V 5
But
he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are
healed.
Wounded
for our transgressions: this includes rebellion against true religion
or worshipping God incorrectly.
Bruised
for our iniquities: this includes moral faults
The
chastisement of our peace was upon him: correction of our peace
With
his stripes we are healed: because of His flogging we can be healed physically.
Christs
death covered many things, all of them for us.
Let
us now look at the last day of Unleavened Bread.
Once
the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, they travelled three days into the
wilderness and came to Marah.
As
explained in our article The Parting of the Red Sea, this is where the
Israelites kept the last day of Unleavened Bread.
Notice
this scripture for what occurred on that day.
EX
15 V 23-26
And
when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for
they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
Exo
15:24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we
drink?
Exo
15:25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree,
which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there
he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
Exo
15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the
LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give
ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of
these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for
I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Here
we see plainly that the Israelites were given a statute an ordinance and
they were proved there.
God
reminds them that He is the God that heals them.
This
was the last day of Unleavened Bread. This healing ties in
with Christs sacrifice as mentioned above.
