| About Enchords | ||||
| Enchords (pronounced AHN-chords) is a student directed a cappella group made entirely of NCHS students. Originally the brainchild of junior Erica Miller and sophmore Sophie Hall, Enchords started recruiting members at the end of 2003-2004. Sophie found that she had other commitments and was unable to co-direct with Erica the following year as planned. Erica decided to ask another member, senior to-be Sarah Bassett, if she would step up and co-direct the group with her. Sarah accepted, and the group got rolling the summer before the 2004-2005 school year. Erica and Sarah were both seniors co-directing the group. Enchords's debut was at NCHS's Fall Concert on October 19, 2004 with "Ain't Misbehavin'." Enchords is the first co-ed a cappella group at Naperville Central, and, after a lovely Fall Concert, earned their spot in the next concert, NCHS's Evening with Humanities, singing "Song For a Winter's Night" in December of 2004. Enchords wowed audiences again at the Pop Concert in March with "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and finished the year appropriately with "I'll Be There," which featured all of the 2005 seniors of the group. Now making preparations for the next year ahead, Sarah and Erica, both graduates of 2005, will step down as directors and will leave the group in the capable hands of juniors Rachel Bassett and Lissa Marques.Connor Rice and Janet Pacanowski, also juniors, will be handling the responsibilities of secretary and website designer for next year. All of the Enchords will continue to work through the year to produce even more quality a cappella for Naperville to enjoy. |
