While trying to defend the honor of her friend, Utena engages in a duel and upon winning, gains the rose bride Anthy Himemiya. During the first season, Utena isn't into dueling for the power, she does it to protect Anthy. Utena is still trying to discover the mysteries behind the student council, when the second season starts where Utena has to duel a whole new set of opponents called the Black Rose Duelists. These duelists have been in a way, brainwashed so they only feel the hatred for either Utena or Anthy and thus challenge Utena to duel. In the third season Utena has to fight the student council all over again, to reach the duel known as Revolution. The big question is... will Utena be defeated... or will she be free? In the movie (Adolesence of Utena) Utena is a much more intricate character, she ends up dueling the student council, falling in love with Anthy, and then turning into... a car? And will the female duo make it out of Ohtori Academy alive? |
